I think it is. I've been from one side of the country to the other, and I've always heard "Pop." Speaking of which, I've never actually heard someone say "Soda" before, except on film. I've read it, but I haven't actually heard someone speak it before. tongue

Other: I address each one by the brand name.

That's pretty much what I do. Sometimes I call it soda, but for the most part, I call it by whatever the actual name of the beverage is.

We all them by flavour, but if there's a lot of different flavours, we call them soft-drinks.

shock Complete opposite here! I have never ever heard anyone refer to soda as 'pop' ... it seems strange to me tongue I've called it soda all my life, with the occassional brand name if I'm referring to a specific.

LOL! Aren't naming conventions funny? laugh Even when I was visiting the US (Chicago and NYC to be specific), I still heard it as "pop", but then that was only on occasion since I don't drink the stuff myself and so don't order it. tongue Still, I suppose pop and soda are better than boisson gazeuse and liqueur as you hear in Quebec. tongue If you're English Canadian, that is. silly

I call it "soda pop" because it makes me feel like I'm in the 1950s. The people around me (Indiana) are a mix, though I believe pop has the majority here.

Calling everything Coke wouldn't really work as you've got stuff like Sprite and Fanta. And I've never heard anyone in Britain refer to anything as a soda* or a pop or a soda pop or a pop soda or whatever. Mostly we just say soft drinks. I call them fizzy drinks, but I think I'm in the minority.

*With the exception, that is, of actual soda water.
