Why can't I vote "yes" without calling it "the greatest book ever written"? I love LotR, but I wouldn't call it the best book ever.

LOTR bores me to no end. I just tune out when people talk about how great it is. I couldn't get past the first 3 chapters in the book, and I slept through FOTR the first time I watched it.

The Lord of the Rings rocks! 
I've read the trilogy twice over, read the Silmarillion just as much, and the books are a LOT better than the movies.

The movies are extremely overrated and too damn long, they are OK to watch maybe once a year. Don't get me wrong that trilogy was an amazing accomplishment in film, but I just don't see what everyone else does in them. I am a Harry Potter fan though!

I always perferred The Hobbit to Lord of the Rings, but I thought the movies were brilliant. If only The Hobbit could be made into a movie of that good a quality.

It is the BEST BOOK EVER WRITEN! It is great because you have to be more intellegence then a ten year old to understand it, and you have to have an attention span greater then that of a fly. If you disagree, fine, but do relize that the majority of the reasons that people have given here for not liking it makes them look like illeterate slobs. Dissagree with me now?
