Hey, I am recomending

WALL-E

and

GET SMART

but go see WALL-E first,

uh, I am going to have to see it again,
and
then buy the DVD for the extras,

just way too much fun, and way to much stuff going on,
and lots of tributes (some blantant) to previous films.

A little weak in the middle, but ya can take the kids,
and it's FUN, ok I said that before.

Note, yes, there is one very tiny joke at the,
absolute end, after all credits and logos,
and, well, it's ok but not worth bursting your kydney for laugh
good for those with nothing better to do.

also, the animation continues throughout the end credits,
I mean, it is a Pixar film after all.

Sound by Star Wars, Ben Burtt (sound designer)
and Skywalker Sound....pretty gosh darn good!

Also with this, is an aboslutely perfect Pixar short,
that had me and the entire audience laughing out loud,
it seemed more adult to me, but some of the kids got it.

ok, now go see this film, at the movies!
sure, it'll be ok on home video later,
but this is one try to see and hear as intended.

oh, did I say I liked this,

well I did, it was nice and kid friendly,

That's all Folks,

cue the music.

.

WallE is on my list of "must see"....

I actually just saw the new Indiana Jones movie last week...
I liked it...
where it was no "Raiders" it was better than "Temple of Doom" and equal to "Last Crusade"....

I missed the new "Narnia"....I kinda wanted to see that on the big screen..
chances are...I will end up not seeing it at all...it is gone from the theaters...

I still haven't seen the last "Pirates of the Carribean" movie...
sad

And ...of course...
we need to mention that the CSO is doing John Williams music at Ravinia
on August 1st!

Star Wars
Jurassic Park
Cowboys

to name a few movies....

I haven'y seen Wall·E yet. I plan on seeing it next week though. I've heard all sorts of things about it. From "too dark an eco-movie for children" to "NeoCon children's hero." It can't be all that bad.

I missed Narnia too. Frankly I didn't think the first one was that great, I'll just rent it: whatever.

I'm looking forward to Dark Knight, which I plan on seeing sometime this weekend. I saw an interview with Gary Oldham the other day that really got me excited. Honestly I think the hype is really high though. I hope it can live up to it.

I saw Wall-E yesterday...
it is a VERY interesting movie...
lots of "little things" going on if you look closely.

I enjoyed it...
it provoked a lot of thought...
and
there were several times I laughed out loud...
which is something I find that I don't do often during a movie or TV show.

There were a few times that it kind of dragged...
but for the most part..
I would say to go see it.

Narnia was one that I really wanted to see on the "big screen"...

Wall-E is one that I think that could be ok whether it is big or small screen...

I went to see "Wall-E" with Emma and my granddaughter Violet, and was mostly impressed with it's exceedingly dark vision of the future. The biotic aspect of the earth was so far gone that only one machine was able to survive, and the whole object of a probe from the survivors of the human race was to see if a single weed had sprouted on the earth they (we)had totally trashed 700 years before.
The film's humans, although somewhat changed, were still quite recognizable as specimens one sees today in shopping malls. But even that was a dark vision, predicting gross obesity and a completely mechanized robotic maintenance of human life (with shades of "HAL") as the norm.
There was humor and clowning, of course, which carried the story line and provided the entertainment. But the vision of a dusty lifeless junkyard dump future for the entire planet could be taken either as a cautionary tale or a concession to the inevitable, I can't tell which.
I guess that's up to us.
Yours,
Liobi

MAMA MIA,

ok, let me start by saying I like ABBA's music,
and yet, I was never a fan....just came accross/re-discovered the music,
after viewing Muriel's Wedding (1994) in a used CD store while waiting to
check out.

and, I just love musicals (any kind, thus George Lucas and American Graffiti)

and I liked many many many sections of this film,
but
I can not recomend it, unless you can have fun just watching a musical
number out of context,

for the STARS are awesome and give their all,

including Pierce Brosnan (of 007 fame)

but every single moment he is on screen is like chalk the wrong way
on the black board.

I just call them, "close your eyes and think of England" moments laugh

After that, however, this film has GREAT humor and lots of fun and fun jokes.

and if you like Musical/Fantasy, (aren't the all)

that is in the order of Xanadu, then you will not mind the contrived plot,
that drags you from one song to the next and one moment to the next,
cause there are a lot of fun moments and good songs.

ok to wait for Video rental or broadcast on this,
or
better yet, go see the Play, it is one of the most successful ever.

Lastly, if you are fluent in another language, you might try that version,
when Pierce Brosnan, gets dubbed.

oh, that is all for now.

I was a HUGE X-Files fan and went to see the new movie last week..
where I did enjoy it...
revisiting the characters ..
and it most certainly had that "X-Files" feel...
I had wished that the movie dealt with the "Aliens" issue...

May I recommend a FREE evening of classical music in Millennium Park this weekend? grin

Yeah, this is a shameless plug for the Grant Park Chorus in which I sing. We're doing a "Great Opera Choruses" program, so if anyone wants to come hear me sing a bazillion high notes, this is the program for you.

We perform at Pritzker Pavilion (the thing that looks like an exploded pop can) in Millennium Park Friday (tonight) at 8:30pm and Saturday at 7:30pm.

Like I said, it's FREE and waaaay nicer sounding than the Air & Water Show. whistling

If anyone is planning to attend, let me know & I can stop by afterward to say hello!! happy
