I think he's talking to "are".

Please don't up it. That's not a very nice thing to do. If he does, I'd drop an admin note on him. Not that it matters though... it'll get lost in all the spam.

Thanks for the congrats guys. grin

Edit: OMG the Hayden/Shaw thread is locked! dancing

What if he treats it like it's not really a spam up and writes some deep, profound analysis in his post instead of just writing "up"? tongue

Since the Leia's bikini thread is locked, I thought I'd share this here.

The question to be asked here is how many were dressing like that because it was their idea, and how many were doing it because their boyfriend/husband/significant other begged them to?

Hello, everyone. I am ashamed of myself for staying away from this place so long. I forgot about it. It's great to be back.

I see someone that I haven't spoken with in ages.
Agent_SkywalKer, how have you been? It's so good to see you.

happy

Sometimes when I see women at cons dressed in very revealing costumes, I wonder what percentage of them are fans and what percentage are not really very big fans at all but enjoy the male attention they get by pretending to be. I'm not by any means saying all women who wear slave Leia outfits or other sexy costumes do it for this reason, or that they're not fans, but I think there are some women out there who do get a confidence boost from putting on a bikini and getting to be the center of attention among the horny nerd guys.

There have definitely been a few times I've met women (single, not being dragged around by partners who are fans) at geeky events and, upon trying to strike up a conversation with them, discovered they didn't seem to know anything about the fandom. I don't understand that - any guys whom those girls meet that way who are not smart enough to see through them can't be very good catches anyway! Cons are lousy dating services. tongue

I agree. That's the main reason I've never showed up at a Con.. for fear of not being geeky enough. How freakin ironic is that? It's like reverse racism or something. Well at least the other part is I don't like going to big places like that alone. But then I can't find anyone geeky enough to go with me, so it comes full circle.

This is why my best contribution to the internet/geekdom was managing a CT forum for two + years. Getting involved in FF is too much peer pressure. tongue

Oh, but even if you're a nerd, you'll always be out-nerded by a lot of people.

But there's plenty of normal people, too. At CE I met someone and we mostly talked about Formula 1 instead of... whatever that con was about.
Of course, it helped that this thing stood around there tongue

I'll gladly admit I'm a nerd/geek/etc... though I'm sure I'd only be average or so at one of those conventions. Still, I've never been because they're never close to me and I don't want to travel across the country for it. Call me lazy about that if you want tongue
