RE: The Three Strike Policy
I do not see how it makes a difference with CT, but Mara and I both read the EU. I'm a "die hard" fan and Mara is not as into it as I am. I say she is not as into it because she has not yet finished the NJO, she's not at the halfway point yet come to think of it.
I believe Quixotic-Sith, Stinrab and Darth-Sapient are all "purists" and I'm don't know about the others. Though I fail to see how that is related to CT forum. Then again this strike policy theoritically encompasses all movie forums, I'll have to check and see if the others are using it.

"Yes, I think it does."
Still drawing lines in the sand, huh? This "us vs. them" mindset isn't going to serve you well on these boards, especially when it involves sticking Mods into your little "boxes".

You don't have any. You would have been informed by a mod if you did. The whole point of the strike system is if someone incites canon wars, we warn them, but there's a limit to the number of warnings they get before we assume they should know better. I believe the initial post of the thread explains this.
No one is going to give you a strike for expressing a reasonable opinion. Believe me... I don't give a damn what your take on EU is.
What you can get a strike for is inciting others. The
way
one expresses an opinion is what determines whether it's incendiary.
Examples for the purists:
1) "I don't like EU because it messes up the symbolism of the OT." <-- This is fine.
2) "EU sux and everyone who likes it is wrong." <-- This is incendiary.
Examples for the EUers:
1) "Here is what EU says on the matter, and if you don't like EU feel free to ignore it." <-- Fine.
2) "All EU is
true
." <-- Not fine.
As far as purists being more likely to get strikes than EUers because they have something to bash while EUers don't, I think you're right, and I'm aware of the potential for bias there. I'll do my best to watch out for it.
The obvious answer I can give you is don't post mindless bashing and I won't have to give you a strike, but if you should see me give someone a strike for what I deemed bashing but you deemed expressing an opinion, by all means let me know.
Should I edit the initial post to make all this clearer?

I thought it was clear, however with the number of warning issued to me personally I wasn't sure if those were the strikes or not.

I forgot I made a post here.
Anyway, I was talking about past instances, and yes, I did read the thread.
Now, I'm very carefully stepping out of thread as to not cause anymore harm.
Oi vey! Tis rough when net life mimicks real life. I mean, where do you go for escapism? (Don't ask >_<)

RE: The Three Strike Policy
I guess I'm confused. What bothers you about this policy? I see it as a natural extension of DDH's original guidelines for what not to do when it comes to canon conflicts, and hopefully one that will defuse purist/completist tensions more effectively. Does it come across as too strict, or what?
