Very true. Though the video transfer of the 97 SE sucked too, it was all pink.
I liked it...
The newest version also looks too clean. There's almost no film grain to be found anywhere. The contrast is a bit high too.
It's pretty bad all around.

lets face it,the lightsabers on the dvd set are totally destroyed! the colors are so wrong that it makes it hard to watch! but it is so easy to fix that if someone had the right program on their home computer they could do it! has anyone ever thought of doing this? all you would have to do is make vaders pink lightsaber bright red and lukes bright green exc.there are sum shots that are already correct and dont need fixing and that would make it even easier.someone should do it! becouse im sorry but if lucas doesn't want to release a correct star wars dvd set until 2013 then someone needs to do something about it!

I'm trying to get Adobe After Effects so I can do that one of these days. The only thing that I thought REALLY sticks out is the lightsabers, and possibly that greyscale explosion when an asteroid hits that star destroyer in ESB.
As for ANH, Adywan over at originaltrilogy.com (link) has redone any flawed FX shots, completely remixed the soundtrack, and much more. Last update says it'll be done in a couple weeks.
