In ROTJ Luke asks Leia about their mother. Why didn't Obi-Wan or Yoda tell Luke about the kind of person Padme was?
Yoda(To Padme): "Seeing you safe brings warm feelings to my heart". Yoda thought alot of Padme, he should have told Luke all about her.

"Because george didn't know much about her then."
I think he is aware of the real-life explanations & wants to discuss story explanations.

George says he had the whole story thought out. I think it might have led to how she died. Kind of not ready for the burden were you situation.

RE: Why didn't Yoda or Obi-Wan tell Luke about Padme?
Remember, these are still two Jedi who come from an era where Jedi don't have parents. They themselves aren't used to the idea. And though their opinions on the matters of attachment have likely been changed or at least challenged, old habits die hard.
They probably first of all didn't really think of telling Luke about Padmé. Secondly, it's yet another person who's dead that they're somewhat responsible for and I'm sure they just don't like to talk about things like that. Thirdly, Luke didn't ask

Not only had George NOT come up with Padme yet(Along with Qui-Gon or any of the other prequel jedi), he simply didn't need to. Obi-Wan and Yoda would rather want Luke to concentrate on the present instead of getting all sad and melodramatic over past events.

well ya. he didn't have everything already written out, or we wouldn't have had to wait so long for episode III as they would've started filming right after AotC.

No, cause Anakin needed to "toughen" himself up before Episode III (you'll understand when you see him).
And there's absolutely no need for them to tell Luke about Padme, storywise.

Luke already knows that he had a father, but if Yoda were to talk about his mother, then so much for considering making him a Jedi.
Anakin's first problem was worrying about his mother.

Lucas pays off the most elaborate setup in film history. He succeeds so completely that anybody who doesn't just love movies but the movies will find reason for celebration—with or without Ewoks.

Because then Luke would have become angry and anger leads to hatred and hatred leads to the Dark Side.
Anyway, how do you know Obi-Wan didn't tell Luke about Padme when he was telling Luke the truth on Dagobah after Yoda died? The scene cuts away while they are still talking. They could have discussed his mother.

Maybe Luke just assumed that he was a virgin birth from Anakin, and had no reason to think he had a mother.
That may have led to some personal issues though.

RE: Why didn't Yoda or Obi-Wan tell Luke about Padme?
Yoda was about to die in Jedi, he didnt have the time.
Also they were pressed for time, there was no reason, if not asked, to bring up Padme.
Maybe he thought only Owen lied to him about his father, not his mother.
In all, they were pressed for time, they didnt have time for Obi-wan to pull out his old Jedi Yearbook and go down memory line.
"Oh and this here is your mother, fine young woman. Find"
"And this is Jar Jar Bink, if there ever was a class clown, Jar Jar was it. I remember his fun charm even to this day"
"And there i am Luke, oh how young I was. Nice Mullet. SO much hair, so young. Was I ever this young. I remember one day me and daddy, Annie as some called him, we were going over to Naboo......"

I believe the quesiton i was ask in the mind frame of "Star Wars story" not in the mind frame of "Making of Star Wars"
I could be wrong.
If needed Lucas would have came up with a name, there was no need to bring her up.

Because Obi Wan could probably tell Luke already had unpure thoughts about his sister. So telling him or showing him what is mom looked like who knows what he would of thought then hahahahahaha
