I dont post over here too much so if this has been discussed go ahead and lock.
Instead of Lucas going through these movies and adding new scenes/music/special features do you think he should just leave the OT alone and remake the OT with new actors and better technology...etc.?
I mean all he has to do is find new actors, he already has the story written.
(imagine what the duel in ANH could look like if it was remade.)
BAC EDIT: See the
new thread

No, absolutely not. That would just be a horrible waste.
Better to just make the changes and be done with it. Actually, as long as the actors original performances are intact, I think it would be just easier to go through and digitalize a bunch of stuff. I mean, if we're gonna make changes anyway, make some really cool ones that would be nice extras, such as converting the smaller spaceship battle scenes (Tantive IV, Millemium Falcon and TIE Fighters, etc...) into a pure, clean, digital format like they use today. They could change just about anything, as long as they just work aroud the actors. Anything like that, just to make the movies look better, I'm absolutely 100% okay with.

I'm fine with GL making changes but, no, he should not remake the OT. I mean, who are you going to get who can play a better Han Solo than Harrison Ford?

Yeah, updates in effects and maybe even cuts are fine
but a remake would simple be bad.

Probably not, however it's interesting to think about it (he could make all sorts of direct PT references in the remakes that just can't be possible now, even with the changes he does).

Except that was just based on the original & the creator had nothing to do with it.

Remade OT would be to original OT as...
...Mark Walhberg is to Charlton Heston.
Younger fans might be dazzled by newer effects....
...but the charisma and chemistry of the original cast would be missing in a remake.

RE: Should the OT be remade??
Well with the technology that we have today he could still probably go in and remake some of the scenes. Like for instance what I said about the Death Star fight in ANH, he could go in and digitally remake that scene to look a lot better than it does.

A remake?? That is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard....
Interestingly enough, it sounds like a nightmare-version of the kind of thing Lucas loves to do... I can imagine him: "This is actually my true vision of Star Wars. The OT was a low budget experiment that failed because of '70s technology... Rather than live with my abandoned film, I've remade it to fulfill my true vision of Star Wars: Faster and more intense."

A remake? No way. Today the remake of the Neverending Story was on TV. Why was it remade?

You been watching RTL2 or something? On that they showed some kind of pseudo-sequel or something to Neverending Story. Looked awful.
OT Remake would look pretty good, visually alone - the rest would be somewhere between awkward and awful
