	It seems like dts is now a must on many dvds I wonder why Lucasfilm did not include it on the dvds. The movies were mixed in dts why not put it on the dvds?

	Every DVD is required to have at least one DD or PCM track. A DD5.1 track takes 384 or 448 kbit/second of bandwidth, DTS takes 768 or 1536 kbit/second. One could argue that the bandwidth is better used improving the video (although bandwidth isn't everything, a low bandwidth encoding from a good encoder can look better than a higher bandwidth encoding from a worse encoder). Another reason could be that Lucas prefers to stay neutral, and Universal owns a large part of DTS. I think movies in general are mix in a lossless format, that is later transcoded to DD, DTS, SDDS, or Dolby Surround. Please correct me if I'm wrong. -----signature----- CGI? Heh. Special Editions? 	Thanks I get it Dts runs at a higher bit rate so it uses more disc space which could take away from the picture. Maybe we will get it on HD DVD?

	SM, weren't you from Australia? Australia has PAL? I didn't know that Do the UK versions have DTS? Unfortunately, my discs have to share the English track with a German one. 	I think Sith Magician is just joking look at the wink after his post. Non of the Star Wars movies on DVD have the Dts track as far as I know. It may be to save space or maybe it is being saved for the next box set?

	The PAL one doesn't have DTS. Lucasfilm uses THX instead of DTS.

	The DTS sound format competes directly with Dolby Digital & THX. 	The DTS sound format competes directly with Dolby Digital & THX. Since Lucas owns THX, it makes sense that he not release his movies with a competitor’s sound format THX is not a format its a standard the THX mark is an award given to a movie when the picture and sound reach a really high standard.
