Just goes to show you that your desire for revenge can waste valuable time, resources, etc which could have been spent completing something.
True. But, in this instance, it wouldn't have benefitted them much. Chewie's choking of Lando took all of about what, one minute or so? As someone already mentioned, by the time our heroes reached the landing platform, Slave I was already in the air. Heck, even Fett's Imperial helpers were long gone.
Had they arrived a minute or so sooner, Fett would have been sitting inside Slave I, prepping it for lift-off, and they probably would have run right into the STs that were just leaving. If we can use the prequels as an indication of Slave I's capabilities, we know that Boba would have been able to fire Slave I's cannons at Leia, Chewie, and Lando, just as he did to Ben some 20 odd years earlier.

To answer the question,
I don't think it would have made a difference either way.
Lando DID say that they were "getting out of here," which implied to me that they were LEAVING for good.
I know that perhaps Lando believed there was "still a chance to save Han" but the odds were really against them.
Lando had to get on the comlink and yell at everyone on Cloud City that the Empire was there, they had to find R2, blah blah blah.
They spent too much time getting there. The one minute Chewie was strangling Lando was not enough time to get Han out of the clutches of Boba at all.
I think they just would have escaped on the Falcon. Lucky they ran into R2 or they would've been tractor-beamed aboard the Executor.
Funny how everythin' works out, idn't it?

Axle Starweilder- Hunter S. Thompson killed himself, there is no peace to be found in his rest. His death, like his life, was not elegant or graceful. He was a stoner, and was an idle to many other stoners. Whiel I am never happy about the loss of life, with his, I am not saddened, either.
alright bub, lookie here; i know this isnt what this thread is all about so i'm not gonna go too far. but the "idle" that you speak of would be spelled idol. and what did you want me to say, "rest miserably in pieces"? honestly, you try and show some respect and then somebody jumps all over you.

Yes, I suppose anyone who takes drugs deserves to die, really.
Hunter S. Thompson was a genius writer, as well as being by all accounts a warm, generous, decent man.
Also, Sherlock Holmes was a drug addict as well. Think of all the unsolved murders and misery caused had he died before his time. I suppose that wouldn't sadden you either.
Your irrelevent, mean spirited and rather daft opinion was not called for on this matter.
And Boba would have been on the Slave 1 by the time the heroes got to the landing platform, so it wouldn't have mattered.

It could be said, that Chewie is responsible for Fett escaping. His attack on Lando cost them precious time, time they needed to retrieve Solo.

I wish Chewie had not strangled Lando. Then perhaps he could have been sacrificed saving Han from Boba---he gets a fitting heroic end and I could be spared a heachache from his incessant whines for the rest of the series!
But it would be a shame to miss the rescue sequence on Tatooine---perhaps Chewie could die there. It certainly would give a bittersweet tone to Han's rescue.
I love Star Wars, but they could have done a better job designing Chewie.
