	Due to the success of the PT CBC discussions, I would like to discuss ROTJ chapter by chapter on the DVD. There are 47 chapters to discuss over the next eight months, excluding Chapter 1: Opening Logos, Chapter 2: Return of the Jedi and Chapter 50: End Credits. Each discussion will last 5 days. At the end of 5 days, the following chapter will be posted. Chapter 11: On the Sail Barge DISCUSSION: October 3, 2005 – October 7, 2005 DVD TIME INDEX: 29:36 – 31:27 Synopsis: Jabba’s sail barge and skiff enter the Dune Sea, crossing many Banthas and dunes. On the sail barge, a party is taking place. Leia watches her heroes being led to their death. On the skiff, Han’s eyesight improves and says it’s convenient for Luke to die on Tatooine. Luke is put into position. END OF CHAPTER Opinion: This is a transitional scene pretty much getting us from one location to the next. Now obviously, this scene was altered due to the special edition and I like the alterations. The Bantha and new Sarlacc add something the older scene didn’t have. The motif of the sail barge and skiff reminds me to much of a pirate/swashbuckler film. Instead of water and shark, you got sand and a Sarlacc. The Sarlacc itself is a pretty unique creation. I never knew the backstory of the Sarlacc, but you don’t need to, because Threepio says what happens. I love the scene and exchange between Jabba and Leia. “Soon you will learn to appreciate me.” Jabba’s got a rebel on his hands and he’s trying to tame her. But is it anything more than entertainment like Oola, I think not. Good scene in that aspect for sure. The last part of the chapter is Han and Luke’s exchange about death and home. Quite memorable, bringing back the arc of Han’s blindness and Luke used to live on Tatooine. It just reestablishes old concepts for those who forgot. 	I agree, good chapter...I like Han's line "You're gonna die here ya know...convenient." Actually, what suddenly popped to mind from that was a line from some long-ago parody. Luke: I used to live here, you know. Han: Half the frickin' saga took place here...convenient Anyway, I have to say that I like the original sarlacc better. Having more interactive tentacles was good, but the beak kinda took away from the "gaping hole" feel. It is called The Great Pit of Carkoon, after all. -----signature----- Even I don't understand what I just said

	I like the addition of the beak, it adds to the creepiness of the creature, since you have the beak coming out of the pit, with all of those fangs. 	i'm surprised at how short this chapter is. The next chapter is one of my all time favorites..but we will get to that/ I actually like the addition of the Banthas in the back ground. And the little new thing inside the sarlac, i am not a supporter of that, but it doesnt ruin anythign for me...so whatever. I actually saw this yesterday, and one thing that jumped out at me was an exchange between 3P0 and R2. 3PO bumps into r2 and they say hellos. then 3Po fills R2 in on what is happening. R2 beeps something and 3PO says something like "i wish i was as confident as you are" I think its cool, cause r2 knows his part in the bigger plan... And he is sure Luke knows what hes doing. right after that, r2 takes off to get into "position" himself. Also, the "i used to live here, you're gonna die here stuff is classic." Does this chapter also include the line "this is your last chance Jabba, Free us, or Die" Oh, i always loved that line... Lukes confidence is great. This is a great little intro scene to the battle to come. Great point about the "pirate ship" feel to it. It really is a pirate/walk the plank feel. And it fits perfectly with the type of character Jabba and Co. are! if you watched this for the first time and paused it as this scene ends, you must be thinking, how are they gonna get otu of this... well, we'll see!

	Does this chapter also include the line "this is your last chance Jabba, Free us, or Die" Oh, i always loved that line... Nope. Next chapter.
