That sounds fair to me. Then everyone gets their way. We're already halfway there since the O-OT is released on dvd now. All that's missing is a better quality version.

I'm not exactly a purist myself so perhaps I shouldn't speak for them, but Lucas' changes shouldn't be a problem if the O-OT is released with the same treatments as the altered edditions.

Here's something to think about (I think I was talking to Butt about this, but I could be wrong): for those that don't want to see changes at all, would you be more open to them if you were given the O-OT on DVD in Blue Ray? That way you'd have a very crystal clear version of the originals, and since they'd be out there for all to see would that make you open to the idea of Lucas just going insane on changes if he wanted to?

Yes.

Yes

Yes, Yes

and yes again.

I would want the OOT to get a hi-def transfer regardless of whatever further changes Lucas has in mind for the SE.

I think, IMHO, whenever the movies are released again there's no reason the OOT shouldn't be done as well. The originals on Blu-Ray/DVD in a remastered set with bonuses (like deleted scenes and whatnot) and the new versions in a Saga boxset. The six-pack would have all bells and whistles, probably include the new Clone Wars movie, plus anything else.

That way if you want one or the other bada-bing, you got it. Moreover, you don't have to pay for BOTH versions if you just want one or the other (2006 releases anyone?). Heck, they might just release each individual movie on Blu-Ray and go all out for each instead of a set. Everything remains to be seen.

I paid for both. The official word was that there would be no DVD release of the theatrical versions, so I went ahead and bought the New Special Edition right away. I'm sure LucasFilm won't pull that trick again...

I wouldn't mind seeing a few interesting changes as long as a) they don't interrupt the flow of the movies, and b) they actually look like they belong in the movie. The added Jabba scene of the SE irritated me because the FX looked bad. The Greedo scene looked bad and didn't enhance the story in any way. I guess what I'd like to see most is some restored deleted scenes. The stuff about Wormy and his space battle, the Big deleted wampa sequence from empire. Maybe they could take another crack at the big musical number in Jabba's palace -- do something not as over the top as in the SE's but not as subdued as the theatrical version. Overall, if there's some way they could refine and polish all six movies to all flow together perfectly, I would not object. But I'd still want my theatrical versions too.

Indeed it is. Thanks.

And now for what I'd like to see besides what's listed...

A New Hope:

-Fix the blaster effects
-Add in a few action-y scenes in the Vader and Obi duel
-Fix Ponda's arm so it isn't hairy-handed and have it long so it actually looks like it was cut at the shoulder
-Take out the stormtrooper hitting his head and "see to him"
-Fix the scene where Luke is with R5 (who is somehow back with the Jawas as well
-Fix the dissapearing gun on the rack
-Fix the changing shadow on the Cantina
-Make the aliens more realistic with additional movements added
-Fix Kabe's see-through head
-Add Tosche Station back in
-Fix Vader's see-through goggles
-Fix up some explosions
-Remove shadows on the wall and 3PO from the lightsabers
-Take away all green flashes
-Make sabers illuminate surroundings
-Make all stormtroopers the same height using CG

The Empire Strikes Back:

-Once again, fix blaster effects
-Fix the size of the Wampa's arm. It looks like it was cut from around the elbow, but the creature in the next scene has it cut from the shoulder
-Change the dialog in Vader's conversation with Palpatine so it doesn't have the whole "how is that possible" and make it seem like Palpatine actually knew about Luke
-Fix the dimorphism blooper on the shuttle when it arrives at the Executor by using the ILM model or creating a new CG shot
-Add some Calamari ships in with the Rebel Fleet
-Change the AT-STs to be more ROTJ-ish and give them a few more scenes
-Make the Ugnaughts look a bit more organic with CG
-Fix up some explosions
-Make sabers illuminate surroundings
-Make all stormtroopers the same height using CG

Return of the Jedi:

-Again again, fix blaster effects
-Fix dimorphism blooper. Quite prominent in Home One's hangar, landing on Endor and Palpatine's arrival
-Fix the scene where it looks like Luke's saber is the one closer to the Emperor
-Take out the scene where the rocks hit wicket in the head
-Add Ewoks exhibiting more brutal and violent ways to kill the stormtroopers
-Add some TIE bombers into the space battle
-Make Ackbar look a bit more organic with CG
-Make Nien Nunb look a bit more organic with CG
-Fix up some explosions
-Take out the shadow of Vader's saber
-Make sabers illuminate surroundings
-Make all stormtroopers the same height using CG

-That's it. The Rebels are there, and I'm sure Skywalker is with them
.
-I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anikan Skywalker

How can you say calm down after someone suggests something so blasphemous?

There's simply no need to change ESB Yoda to digital. It's already done perfectly. The CGI Yoda in AOTC and ROTS was modeled after the puppet performance in ESB. To now go back and change the puppet to the CGI version that derived from the puppet in the first place would be like... translating Homer from Greek to English, then re-translating it back into Greek from the English. It would be a mutant abomination.
