	Well if they did not teach him about it,maybe its because Obi Wan has never faught Sidious,and when Yoda did he made it quite apparent it can be easily blocked with a saber,he probably thought Sidious would find a new attack. And if Luke did know,he didnt have a saber at the time. He had thrown it away,and he made it quite apparent that Sidious would have to kill him,because he would never turn to the darkside. 	The reason that neither Yoda or Obi-wan prepared Luke for the Force lightning is because Luke ran off to Bespin before they could have a chance to warn him about the Emperor's ability to shoot electricity from his fingers.

	Because Yoda knows that Luke is more interested in an explanation on whether or not Darth Vader is his father.

	If they prepared him, even trained him to repel it, Luke would become arrogant (which he is to some extent in ROTJ). 	Luke wasn't with Yoda all that long. Yoda taught him basics. In fact there was no Jedi in the Jedi Order that we knew of besides Kenobi, Yoda, and Mace Windu, all of whom managed to block it. Luke was told specifically not to UNDERESTIMATE the power of the Emperor. 	^^^^ I just can't buy into that. Yoda /ObiWan prepared Luke? . not properly. They want him to FACE Vader and Palpatine?. then Yoda should have remembered his own little incident when HE faced the Emperor. telling Luke not underestimate Vader or the Emperor is an understatement, and after Bespin , i doubt Luke would, again. it really only can be a legitimate plot hole. cause they wait all these years For the Force to Bring Luke to them , then even after Luke spends a few Weeks training on Dagobah betwen ESB , and ROTJ , they never discuss their own experience with the Emperor and his power?. this is almost as Dumb as how the Jedi dealt with Anakin all those years. why keep things that are of such importance from him. you can try and make reasons all day as to how he was prepared, but you reall can't. 	i if anything, lucas in the 80s didnt have a idea of production of the PT in mind or even the idea of lightning in the PT, so might of been a new power the emperor developed over the years since yoda of obiwan last saw him and was total schok for luke and the jedi watching on.

	Luke may have known, he may not (I think he doesn't..), but it doesn't make a difference to the scene.
