Similar, Greedo_forever, but I'm not annoyed.

[EDIT] Hm, regarding my post above, I couldn't imagine a dialogue dealing with Force Lightning that would not sound somehow clumsy. Anybody an idea?

AND I think that GL wanted to surprise everyone with the force lightning.

Exactly. I thought force lightning was the greatest thing in the world when I first saw ROTJ. According to the ROTJ novelisation, Luke didn't even know such a power existed.

IMO, the prequels have done a bad job with the Emperor's lightning. Seeing it deflected makes it seem less scary and powerful in some people's minds. Also, Dooku shouldn't have used it. McDiarmid said he was furious that Dooku used lightning because he thought that was his prerogative.

Actually, it scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. I mean terrified. hypnotized

I agree: having Count Dooku use the same power (as awesome as that is), I think diminishes how creepy and evil Sidious is.

If Yoda had explained in depth on camera about force lightning it would certainly have taken the surprise element away.

I think having Force lightning used by Dooku in the PT opens up a whole can of worms and certainly cheapens the effect. Although the Emporers lightning certainly does come accross as more ferocious than that used by Dooku...

I still find it hard to beleive dooku can use it and not vader (and i dont buy this limb chopped off midichlorian thing)..

But hey I wouldnt say it spoils the films theres certain things in the PT you have to overlook as far as continuity between the PT OT and it doesnt take away from the experience I think maybe palpatines power would have dimished somewhat with little or no credible opposition for the past 20 or so years?

At what point does Luke block lightning? I've never been able to see this. He would have to use his hand to block lightning and I didn't see any lightning come to his hand and be deflected away. I know that the novel mentions him being half successful at blocking the lightning at first, but the copy of the ROTJ script in the Annotated Screenplay didn't say anything about Luke attempting to block lightning.

Sorry if I made it sound like it happened in the movie, it doesnt. It only occurs in the novel. Lukes thinking is "if its forcegenerated, it can be forcerepelled"
