Hmm, I enjoyed the music that accompanies the retreat of the rebels from the collosal walkers. It realy encompases the evil that is the Empire and the doom of the rebellion. An epic moment as the three walkers take up the entire background decimating the entrenched rebels.

I also was impressed with the approach to cloud city as its score reminded me of the approach to the Emerald City in the classic wizard of oz. It emcompases the majesty and yet mystery about this location happy w.o.o.=funny movie, e.s.b.=great homage.

There are a lot (a WHOLE LOT) of choices, but for me, I'll have to go with the two scenes that form the perfect bookends for the OT: The Binary Sunsset from ANH and the Funeral Pyre in ROTJ. Deeply moving musical cues, matched with some wondeful images.

I would have to say the moment when Luke is staring at the suns of Tatooine. To me it says so much about the choices he has to make and his destiny.

Wow, so this is what non-music forum regulars think. Cool.

I could rattle off at least 20 moving moments in the OT, but there are a handful that still get to me, even after a kazillion views of each film.

Tie Fighters attack from ANH is pretty darn awesome.

Yoda lifting the X-Wing from the swamp is incredible.

Williams propels himself into musical nirvana about 2/3 of the way into ESB, and reaches his high point where Luke is being rescued by Lando. The music is incredibly tense and feels sad when you realise that it should be Han coming out of the Falcon, not Lando.

And obviously the surreal chorus as Luke fights back against Darth Vader is awesome. I feel that here John Williams most alters what we see on screen by adding music. In other scenes the music complements the pictures, where as here it actually changes their meaning.

From "Luke, youve switched off your targeting computer, whats wrong" all the way up to the end of the film. I loved that
In ESB, I love the Battle of Hoth Music, and I also love the track "the asteroid feild"
In RoTJ, Assault on the death star, and I loved the bits and peices from track 12 of RoTJ cd. I also "got moved" by track 07 from 5 minutes up to 5:45, which was the end of the duel between father and son

Everything evil but two stand out the most. The Emperor's arrival on Death Star 2. Then the lightsaber fight at the end with luke and Vader.

You say "move you" so imperial march and the emperor's theme are out, although they are two of the best themes of all times. So... what emotionally moved me..
the music during Yoda's death, during the final duel, during the funeral pyre and the new finale.
(hmmm.. they are all in ROTJ...intesting...)

Definitely about 5 minutes into the track "The Battle of Endor II", the music leading up to Luke's defeat of Vader in ROTJ.

I'd agree with all of that, though I rank "The Force Theme" up with them.

The Binary Sunset, Yoda's becoming one with the force and Vaders Viking Funeral have always moved me but now that the prequels are done Obi-wan first apperence with when he takes the hood off and the force theme plays and then again when the are in Obi-wans home and He is telling Luke about his father and the Clone Wars. The use of the Force theme for Obi-wan were it is played very softly is very effective and moving. It helps bring across that this is a man who has seen alot and has to live through some trying times. And now when I watch those scenes I think of Mustafar, Genosis, and Naboo and what happened in those places.

the most?

When Luke asks Leia about their real mother... and their theme is playing in the background. but looking back on Padme's character, it would have been so much better...cause now I can't see Portman as Luke and Leia's mother. Their mother, not padme, still remains a mystery to me. I know Lucas did his best but if I had to choose, I'd pick leia cause she was spot on - she was a leader - strong, she also had a dark side to her whenever she got angry with Han. lol. I like my women bad and good, yet strong - someone who isn't perfect, who isn't innocent. why? cause perfection doesn't exist. People make mistakes...they learn from it and try to turn things around but at the same time, she knows it would lead her to her death.

I like my women with dark secrets. happy someone who has had a not so good past - someone who's got their own agenda, kinda like how Han thought he was in charge of escaping the Death Star after he helped Luke get Leia out of her cell. Someone who's not one dimensional - who doesn't hold themselves back when they're falling for someone... yeah. but getting back to her having a dark side to her, I never thought of luke and leia's mother as this perfect woman. The way I thought about and the more I think about her, I felt she must have seen a lot of bad stuff happening in front of her; she made mistakes perhaps even if she thought they were good intentions but turned out to be bad ones; she was a kind woman, beautiful but sad... cause of what was happening around her, the things she had done to make things better, things she did and regretted later on; tried to turn things around but in the process it led her to her death. sad Thats how I imagined "Amidala". Amidala, thus I still love the name and am keeping it that way, is still a mystery to me.

but hey, atleast we have a name. happy

Duel of the Fates. The choir vocals give me shivers...and it just sounds really epic.
