Yeah but while making ROTJ the commentary said that Vader was stronger than Obi-Wan - but Obi-Wan was still very strong. But Obi-Wan was out of practice, whereas Vader had been using his saber over the years quite often. So I would imagine Vader would have won, eventually. But Obi-Wan had a different plan: allow Vader to kill him.
Here is the odd part; Obi-Wan could have simply disengaged his lightsaber and let Vader strike him down. But he didn't. He left it glowing as if to not make Vader strike him down unarmed. I don't know if that was necessary for his becoming one with the force - but I doubt it. So I was thinking that maybe it was to finally bring a psychological end to his personal suffering. He still blamed himself for what happened to Anakin and for leaving Anakin alive at Mustafar (or alternatively not taking him away from Mustafar and redeeming him). So perhaps it was his own way of feeling personally redeemed. I mean just for Obi-Wan of course, all of us watching may not agree with him - but it was a personal trauma for him. After all, if he extinquished his saber, he would have made Vader attack an unarmed man...

Q:Why is Obi-Wan weak?
A:Because after the jedi were wiped out, the midichlorians joined the dark side.

Vader was taunting him, something his sith predecessor(Dooku) did often during duels.

I vote "talking smack" too.
Vader wasn't exactly pwning Obi-wan there. Obi-wan cleaned up in the cantina like he was discarding a tissue into the trash, so we know his skills were still deadly, not rusty. And, he let Vader "win".

I agree. Vader was just trying to get in Kenobi's head. Vader was a Sith Lord who ran the Imperial Navy and answered to the Emperor himself. He ran the show. He probably knew that Kenobi was living in exile, shamed, reminiscing about his glory days on the Jedi Council. He was taunting him, most likely trying to get Kenobi to become emotional and make a mistake. But I do believe that Vader honestly thought that his skills overshadowed Kenobi by leaps and bounds. Whether or not that's true is debatable.

I think it was most likely true, Obi-Wan was awesome, but he hadn't fought in a while. There is a thing as being out of practice, even for a Jedi. I like the idea that Obi-Wan did not add to Vader's sins by extinguishing his lightsaber. That was like a nod to his old Padawan Anakin despite the fact that he felt Vader was hopelessly evil and unredeemable.

I still cant figure out how Obi-wan goes from high 20s-low 30s in ROTS and then 20 years later for ANH hes like 70 while everyone else like annikan, palpatine, and others look the right age of 20 years older.

Vader was confused by Kenobi's lack of agression, and read it as lack of ability. In fact, Obi-Wan has achieved transcendant power of the the twenty-year gap. His purpose is simply not one that Vader can grasp. Vader read this as weakness, and still did not understand when Kenobi spelled it out:
"You can't win. Strike me down, and I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine."

But "more powerful than you can possibly imagine" turned out to be a chatty Force Ghost sans any power relevant to taking down Vader.

Woah woah Anakin aged better than Kenobi? I don't think so. Obi-wan is 38 in ROTS and 57 in ANH. Guinness was 61 during filming. Sebastian Shaw was nine years OLDER than Alec Guinness. So Anakin aged worse than Kenobi, seeing as how he looked over seventy and of course that's because the actor himself was over 70.

The understanding of the Living Force that he learned from Qui Gon was pretty significant, and he mentions this in the duel. Vader didn't know about that though.

Rogue...Jedi posted: It may help to keep in mind that the other older Jedi had clearly stayed in shape and in practice their entire life, whereas Obi-Wan has just spent almost 20 years living alone in the desert. Powers waning through disuse, perhaps?
Good point, and naturally Palpatine would be a skilled combatant as the Sith Lord, he should be an avid saber fighter.
I think Obi-Wan wasn't really that weak, and basically just didn't want to fight as he used to..
