Does anyone know the fate of Vader's fighter after the Battle of Yavin?

He parked it in a rough part of town on some backwater planet. When he came out to his ship, it was up on blocks and the solar panels were missing.

But all the insides were intact, because not even the bravest thief would dare go in there after he spent 2 weeks trapped in there... it probably smelled like feet wrapped in leathery burnt bacon... (thanks Robot Chicken!!!)

I knew someone would post that from RobotChicken!
Don't forget he was cited as well for abandoning his ship by the local police.

He made a rather rough landing thanks to asteroids on a backwater planet that only had an ignored but still active listening post (or relay station? something with communications at any rate) manned by huge slackers who he had eaten by indiginous canines. Borrowing the shuttle of said post he returned to Coruscant and instructed people to fetch his damaged TIE (which was parked on the edge of a cliff, IIRC) and replace the recently devoured crew.
According to Star Wars: Empire #14, at least.

He flew around for weeks trying to get a cell phone signal, then he finally made a collect call to the Emperor. The Emperor was not pleased.

Well, a standard TIE didn't have lightspeed capability. Considering Vader's was a 'beefed'-up version, it wouldn't be a stretch to say he could travel in hyperspace.
I don't believe his starfighter received too much damage. It was only clipped by the other TIE. He probably retreated to hyperspace before the Rebels realized what happened.

Yeah, that was pretty cool how he still how they showed he still had his ability to commune with Animals. That was as good a possibility for what happened as anything else. He eventually landed safe and got his tie back for certain - the movies don't tell us, the comics did.
