Combat pilots?
1)Lando
2)Wedge
3)Luke
I have the tendency to believe Han was a great pilot ...
but can't see Solo/Chewie doing what Lando/Nunb did.
The Alliance was probably glad to get a seasoned combat pilot in the role of GoldLeader.

1. Darth Vader. Obi-Wan calls him the best star pilot in the galaxy. Who am I to disagree?
2. Luke Skywalker. Only one other pilot could have made that shot...and he is ranked #1.
3. Wedge Antilles. Only non-Jedi pilot to survive both Death Star runs.

The impression I have is that Han is a maverick, a pirate, and a damn good pilot.
But in a combat situation where he is in charge of several squadrons, coordinating and planning? I don't know.
Saving his own ass is his speciality, not leading a full blown sortie against the Imperial Navy/DS2

From what we saw in the movies, Han has only flown the Millenium Falcon. I'm not dissing his pilot skills, but he made exstensive modifications to the ship, hence why it is able to do all that fancy flying.

Actually if you think about it, Any Pilot in the OT, who didn't die was great.
Droids managed to give a member of the Jedi High Council trouble, I see no reason to scoff at Han being able to challenge Vader.
True, but Han Solo against a dark lord of the sith who was also a top notch pilot in his Jedi days? If it was JarJar Binks Vs. Han i can see your point.

So? Anakin piloted 1/3 of a flaming wreckage that was the Seperatist's flagship.
I;m not trying to say anything, but Han did flew it, plus there was extensive modifications done to make it fly around like that.
Also, excluding Darth Vader in the OT, the only thing we see han fly is the millenium falcon. We don't know how good he is with other types of fighters. Luke & Wedge, however flown at least 2 types of fighters during the OT.

Actually, Luke was hit by a AT-AT blast while in the snowspeeder, and whether or not Yoda played a part in Luke's crash on Dagobah, Luke was probably pulled in by the gravity of the planet.

after han,vader and luke i would say chewbacca and wedge. lando was ok but remember he almost destroyed the falcon 2 times,the first when he knocked off the satellite and then he almost didn't make it out of the death star when he was racing the fire of the explosion.you can see he is having a hard time all though the death star run,han and chewe could have did much better.

I was mainly talking about flying through the Death Star II at breakneck speed, but he's quite able to lead an attack as well..

Now we never got to see Jabba's ship, but you should see those little arms work the controls.. Its an awesome sight to behold.. More lost on the cutting room floor.
