when did Yoday let Dooku go? He pulled a cheap shot on Yoda, giving him time to get out before he could have died. Even if Dooku died, you do not think that Sid had another person up his sleave? Yoda being a jedi master and more saw many jedi before and after him fall in battle, and in honor. What Yoda is saying, is that you cannot put them before you, and what you are about. You are a Jedi, and to have them in that high of regard is to have like an idol before you. Yoda was teaching him how a master must think, not a Jedi. Just as a monk as he goes to monestary, he must leave behind everything.

Well, not Han, maybe, but wasn't Leia "the Other"?

Leia wasn't only "the other" though. She also was one of the key leaders of the Rebellion.

I think Yoda was trying to protect Luke from making some of mistakes he made. He wanted the best for Luke because he knew Luke was their best shot at overthrowing Sidious. The redeeming of Anakin was just iceing on the cake.

What mistakes do you think Yoda did, other than I guess thinking he could take out Sidious? Do you think he could have been to cautious through his career as a master, not pushing on certain points that other Jedi wished to be involved in? Your answer is thought rovoking, and I love it!

I have a different view. I think it was a test. Yoda himself chose anakin and OWK over dooku because he cared about his friends and also knew how important they were. He wanted to test Luke and see if he would make the same decision.

I agree, in AOTC even Windu believed that Anakin could be the choosen one. They couldnt risk loosing Anakin. Howewer, i dont think i could picture Yoda continue to chase Dooku while Kenobi and Anakin get crushed. I dont think he would do that.

Isn't something missing here.
Yoda could save Obi-Wan and Anakin b/c there were many Jedi to track down Dooku and help end the conflict.
In the OT, Luke was the last best hope for change. Why risk him by encouraging him to walk into a trap albeit to save his friends.

Joe_Garelli posted: Yoda seems to be ignoring the fact that he let Count Dooku escape in AOTC and allowed the Clone Wars to continue for years instead of simply ignoring the falling pillar and killing Dooku, killing Dooku would have ended that war early on and Palpatine would have been forced to execute Order 66 at that exact moment because of it.
Clearly Yoda made the wrong choice in AOTC is trying to get Luke to remember his mistake earlier, that letting two rebels die would be more acceptable than letting the son of Skywalker get killed or turned to the dark side.
There would have been no son of Skywalker then. Anakin would have been mush.

Yoda may have let Dooku escape while saving Obi-wan and Anakin. But its a totally different scenario from Lukes. Yoda knew that Luke could only defeat the sith as a fully trained Jedi. And he knew the rebellion needed the help of the Jedi to overthrow the Sith.
If Luke was killed, the rebellion was dead. Because Yoda wouldnt have enough time to train Leia ( Probably wouldnt even find her before he died). He was simply stating to Luke that if he goes to save them and ends up dead, then everything they all had fought and suffered for would die too.

Uhh....no.
If Yoda had killed Dooku it would NOT hanve ended the war. It would have put a crimp in Palp's plans, but not have ended the war. He would have just gotten someone else...maybe Grievous...to lead the Seps.
As for Order 66, no way. it would have been waaay too soon.He needed certain things to be in place in order to do that.
