I am not sure were this came from and I wanted to know if ANYOTHERS have read or heard this? Back in the days, around ESB release my brother read that Vader's suite couldn't be hurt by a lightsaber or a blaster. However the only way a lightsaber could cut it would be if it hit him in the joints of the suit. Some reason it was weaker at the joints. I don't recall this in the book and I was just wonder where he hear this. Any truth? Then again he still swears to this day that Luke throw the rope twice on the Death Star swing.

I guess that all went out the door in "Jedi." When Luke cut's Vader's hand off. It went right through the suit.

But he cut it off at the wrist, that would be a like a jointed place I guess. So he could move he wrist easy.
Anyway, has anyone else heard this?

Blaster-proof, maybe (think Vader's deflection of Han's shot, which was probably due more to the Force than his suit), but no physical matter in the films is "lightsaber proof". The only things that a lightsaber can't pass through are other lightsabers, blaster bolts, and energy shields such as the Naboo laser gates and the force fields surrounding the ends of the staffs carried by Grievous' bodyguards, etc. If Qui-Gon can cut through blast doors that look about a meter thick with no problem, I doubt Vader's puny shin and shoulder guards will deflect a direct cut. Luke glances him in TESB, but in no way was that a direct hit to Vader's shoulder. I've heard about cortosis in the EU, but in the films, the lightsaber chops through all steel, no sweat.

LOL Have you listened to Weird Al's portrayal of that very thing? If not, look it up, badly acted, and hilarious

But, you yourself reported that Vaders suit could not be cut or blasted through. If that's so then how come it was cut through at the wrist? There can't be little escape plots to a theory. It can either be cut or it can't. It was.

If Vader's life-support suit was saber-proof, then why didn't Sidious wear it during his fight Yoda?
*Yoda swings*
*PTANG!!*
Sidious: "Ha, ha! Now you will witness the firepower of this fully armed and operational Deluxe Edition Saber-proof Darth Vader OT costume!!"

Luke cuts through the shoulder armor to in ESB so his suit is not saber proof. Although cotorsis(a lightsaber resistant material) armor was worn by groups like the Jennasari in the EU.

i always thought that just the shoulder armor that he wore was made of cotorsis and thats why luke didn't cut throw vader and it just hurt him a little.it would make scents thow right? that the emperor would get some cotorsis for vader to wear on his venerable spot(upper chest were his artificial lungs are under) and thats why luke didn't cut throw it.

Vader's suit for the most part appears to be just a body suit with shin guards, aromer on his lower legs. Shouder guards, a mask/helmet, a built-in iron lung and a built-in belt.

Oh and Vader used the Force to abosorb the blaster bolts Han shot at him. And I have a source: the Star Wars Insider Q&A. Forget the number though.

I think his joints ae too weak for carbonite and when he was frozen when he was putting in his frozen food I think it weakened his joints.

Vader was so rigid in the CT. Whenever I watch him, I get the impression that his joints are near inadequate and his entire suit is cumbersome.

Luke's lightsaber cut right through the suit. Also, that was Vader's mecahanical arm; there is no such thing as a "human joint" in a prothsetic limb. It may look like an arm, but it's not built to look 100% human.
