Even though I dont have the Tales of the Bounty Hunter novel I heard that IG-88 was impressed with Darth Vader being half man and half machine. It's like IG-88 was starting to fall in love with him or something. If only he saw what Vader looked like underneath that helmet he wouldn't be impressed with Vader's transformation.

So, are you saying that IG-88 was some sort of homosexual droid? Don't get me wrong, it's his life choice, but I never knew that droids could fall in love with 6. FT Sith Lords in armor.

IG-88 considered Darth Vader to be the perfect balance between man and machine. He was obsessed with the Dark Lord. He studied tapes of Vader's visit to Mechis III, analyzed every movement he made while on the planet, and listened to his raspy breathing. Even while on the Executor, IG-88 was studying Vader's movements and words...at least that's how Tales of the Bounty Hunters describes him.
Homosexual? Maybe.

Maybe he just considers Vader an idol, and IG-88 is his #1 fan.
Vader's this half-man, half-machine creature who can kill people just by twitching his fingers and he doesn't even have to be in the same room as they are! He can just use the Force to kill off a guy that's on another ship if he so wished!
IG-88 doesn't have that. He has to physically get close to his target and start blasting him with a blaster. This is why he probably admires Vader.
He's like an obsessed fan, if you will.

Sounds like a professional interest in Vader. If he'd known how Vader felt about his physical state of being as described in the novel "Dark Lord Rising" he wouldn't have been so impressed. Especially with the complaints Vader had with the physical limitations of the suit.

I think it's only natural for Vader to feel that way, he used to be the most powerful jedi. He used to be able to twist and jump and run when he was fully human. When becomming darth Vader, basically he can walk, duel and thats about it. Anakin was a very physical jedi whereas Vader's suit has many limitations.
However, he adapted quite well. He doesn't have a run in with IG-88 for almost ten years after ROTS. He's had time to adapt and become accustomed to the suit. If anything, thats what IG should be respecting, that a human could become so accustomed to being a machine, and still be more powerful then anyone else.

Dark Lord was I believe a month after RotS. Vader was an emotional and physical mess. But a couple of things happen by the end of the novel, a, Vader taps into the true power of the darkside, b, Vader starts upgrading the suit. There's no reason to believe he didn't continue to update suit throughout the time up to the ot. Check out ESB, dueling Luke Vader looks graceful. I think often people underestimate the power of Vader in the ot. Yes, he could have been everything, but he still became something great. He could have been Michael Jordan but instead became Larry Bird, if you will. It doesn't surprise meet that IG-88 respected and admired the guy. The whole galaxy feared Vader and knew his power. Few knew about Palpatine, for the galaxy at large, Vader was the symbol of power.
