Oh man I love this scene. I especially love how it ends with Vader searching the skys again.
Hell, I just love ESB all together.

I didn't pick this scene, but that 4th shot is beautiful - man, I might have picked it if I'd remembered how awesome that looked. Fact is, ESB is prolly my least favorite of the 5, so I watch it skipping to all Vader parts, lol. But I may have come in late and missed this full view recently...although I have seen the whole movie in the last 6 mons and still missed it. Anyway, shots are gorgeous as always General, well done!

unfortunately, this got kicked out when I narrowed my top 30 or so down to top 10 but it's one of the many reasons why ESB is awesome

Also our first hearing of the Imperial March.
I got a whole new appreciation for this scene when I bought this book that had details for all the ships in SW, and it had the sizes of each one. I couldn't believe how big a Star Destroyer actually was. Then to see it dwarfed by the SSD, which is like seven times larger than an SD?? - Seeing this scene after that was like "wow! ". In fact it still is.

As said before, I missed out on voting, andstillhaven't got round to compiling my top 10, but the idea that #21 beats 'It's a trap!' is outrageous.
I can only hypothesise that #22 lost votes because some people are prejudiced against ROTJ. It's an absolute classic scene, and includes so many treasured elements of SW:
eg. R2 and Threepio are in it
It's all turning bad for the rebels.
"You rebel scum"
The music
Wedge says "Lock S foils in attack position"
Ackbar says "May the Force be with us" - you know it's now or never
It's got Nien Nunb in it
It's got Wicket saying "Beechawoowa"
Lando saying "well how could they be jamming us if they don't we........ (cue moment of realisation and dread).... if we're coming"
And ultimately, it has what has to be the greatest military exchange in movie history:
"Admiral! We have enemy ships in sector 3-7"
"It's a trap!"
Before the swarms of Tie-fighters fill the screen.
This scene is just so exciting, and an example of the what makes SW stand out as something special, it just grabs you. I'm immediately putting this in my soon to be formulated top 5.
Whoever voted for #21 above this should be feeling pretty bombad with themselves right now. I'm beginning to think Palpatine's had a hand in the outcome of this vote. I demand a recount....

... not to mention Luke and Vader are in it. And then of course there's dark side temptation and the line "It is unavoidable. It is your destiny. You, like your father, are now mine."
Come on everybody - get out your checklists of what makes a great Sw scene, this ticks nearly every box.
You know.

Hey, I agree with ya! ROTJ has the best scenes in the OT. Mind you, that goes without saying considering it's the best film in the OT

I've generally thought of the OT films pretty evenly, never broken them dwn much before, but it's interesting that in the last 10 minutes I've drawn up a first draft of my top 10, and if the Yub Yub song was on the DVDs (I've been presuming this vote has been done from the 4-disc trilogy box set with all the changes included) then 6 of my 10 would be from ROTJ. But come to think of it, my replacement one would be ROTJ as well. Must have something to do with it being the first film I bought on VHS and the only 'making of' I remember seeing as a kid.
It's definitely harder than first imagined - the way scenes are edited so that an actual scene in the film is spread across multiple chapters makesit difficult to include things you would otherwise have gone for.

Yoda beating R2 with his stick is hilarious! You can tell he has been alone for a little too long.
