Yes, I was counting.
I completely agree, 100%. I don't recall exactly where I ranked it in my own list but it was certainly up there. This scene is amazing. Every time I watch RotS I feel like I need to go on and watch ANH at least to this scene. It's amazing, brilliant work all around. It's true, this scene more than anything is what makes the PT possible for me. Not to mention it establishes a sense of deep background for Obi-Wan, and helps set up a young Obi-Wan character that Ewan then knocks out of the park in the PT.
As to the #1 scene... not a surprise. But sadly it's not really a scene I feel a *ton* of attachment to. Obviously it's a great scene and had to have been amazing in context. But I saw the movies first when I was so young I don't even remember it. I never recall a revelation of Vader being Luke's father. I think it's sad because it would have rocked to have that kind of shock. But I just never did.
However, I did once watch the whole series in release order with a friend who was *clueless* about Star Wars. She didn't know Vader was Luke's father! I don't know how you get to 19 years old in this country without knowing that But I had a great vicarious experience of watching the entire series not knowing what was going to happen through her. And on that viewing, this scene ROCKED

Wow I didn't even think that was possible. I mean, even in the Simpsons
"Wow, Who would've known that Darth Vader WAS Luke's Father."
Everyone who I've ever met who hasn't had the priveledge of seeing SW, they always say "Luke, I am your father." .... to which I correct them with "It's actually 'No, I am your father'" to which I gain some funny looks.

The "I'm your father" really is the best OT scene.
