When Prince Charles takes the throne, his wife Camilla will not be Queen of England because she is not a blood member of the royal family.
That's not exactly true. If Diana had remained married to Charles, she would have become Queen of England upon his ascension to the throne. However, Camilla is not only Charles' second wife, she is also a divorced woman. And the Chruch of England refuses to acknowledge the wife of a king previously married to someone else as queen.
Perhaps "Bail" is a title as well, like "Elector" in the Holy Roman Empire, and as his adopted daughter, she is a princess simply by virtue of belonging to a princely family.
Bail is not a title. Bail is the first name of Leia's stepfather. Bail was the Viceroy and Prince of Alderaan. He was also the husband of Queen Breha Antilles-Organa, the ruling monarch of Alderaan. Breha was Leia's stepmother.
Although Bail's family - the House of Organa - had royal connections. It was Breha's family - the House of Antilles - that was Alderaan's ruling family.

In the UK, A King's wife is generally the Queen (with some exceptions as mentioned above), but a Queen's husband is never King.

They had more than royal connections. The House of Organa was a royal house just like the House of Antilles..

Padme became 'Princess of Theed' a year before becoming the Queen of Naboo. Her place as Princess attracted supports who did not agree with the previous King's actions, and thus she was quickly voted into office.
I think Leia's title was used more in her role as an ambassador and rebel than anything else, it lent her the authority to make statements final and congealed where people might have doubted her otherwise.

Y'all are looking too far into it. She's a princess, the daughther(adopted daughter) of a Queen( a real queen, not a democratically elected official from a culture that uses royal titles instead of titles like president, VP, etc..).
If Alderaan never blew up, she would have been Queen one day, but since it did, she'll always be a princess( kinda like how Vegeta could be king of the Sayian, but since there are only 2-3 full blooded sayians left and their homeworld is destroyed, he still calls himself prince instead of king.)
