Detention Level Dilemma

Why would C-3PO leave the comlink on the table in ANH while in a DS control room? I know that he and R2 had to hide and escape, but why leave it there? Were they in such a rush to hide that an object like a comlink could be left out in the open and not be noticed by incoming troopers? Ideas please.

If you'll notice, Luke talks thru the comlink right before the stormtroopers bust in. (maybe no off switch ?) If that had happened while 3CPO had it in his hand with the stormtroopers there, it would have blown his cover story of the "madmen".

I do agree that it wouldn't have been too hard to just turn it off and stick it in one of his plates where the openings are.

3PO gets so worked up, he'll forget things from time to time. Luckily R2 was around to remind him about the comlink.

Tell me about it. If R2 were not around, 3PO would be helpless because he does not have the circuits to help him out in certain situations (see everything R2 saved him from).
