I'd say they start right around the time of order 66.

See, thats what I figured. I know that Lucas disregards the characters diolog in the original films, but Obi Wan does mention the dark times and a time before the Empire. The Empire is announced in Revenge of the Sith. This would still be in the clone wars era. The only thing that would make this interesting is the part where Vader hunts down the remaining Jedi- this would be that time period. I cant see Lucas throwing a suited Vader in the TV show though. Thats just too good.

You hear that? That's the sound of inevitability.
You hear that? That's the A train.
You hear that? That's the sound of a thousand terrible things heading this way.

I wouldn't doubt "guest starring" roles though.

The Clone Wars ended when Anakin assassinated the Council. By the end of ROTS we are out of the Clone War era and into the Dark Times. I think the show will use minor Jedi who escaped Order 66 and maybe a few cameo appearances by the main cast like Vader, Kenobi etc.

Lucas seems to love CGI so much that he could do it fully CGI. Mark, Harrison and Carrie + others could of course voice act.

CGI really isn't at the point yet where you can realistically do that. It would come across looking incredibly cartoonish.

Yeah true, tho I don't think it will be long that it actually can be done.

I seriously doubt CGI will ever make humans look 100% realistic. People will have to understand the movies are computer generated, so they don't cry foul when they see them. I personally wouldn't go see movies like this, but I'm sure there are many who would.

Well it has been done, I mean replacing stunt mans/doubles face with the orginal actors one. Of course most likely theres no speaking etc. but anyway. Also, never say never when talking about development of technology. :P

I agree that some of the face replacement CGI has been pretty good, but it's still only a face seen from a distance, usually in motion. I kind of hope technology doesn't advance to the point where actors are no longer needed. Think of how this could put a lot of actors out of a job. Everybody would be hired to do voice-over work and nothing more. I'm a drummer and have been playing over 30 years. When drum machines came out in the early 80's, I found myself being phased out slowly. Luckily, music has changed back (somewhat) and I can find gigs again. Drum machines never showed up late for practice or came in drunk and you didn't have to pay them, etc. I got sick of hearing that. LOL! Imagine not having to deal with set locations and high paid actors with high demands, etc. I'm sure the movie bigwigs would love that. I sure hope it doesn't come to that.

Drum machines are evil... hate them. Just had to get that out.
