Kind of like the circle of life. If that's the case then the ability to retain your identity isn't an accomplishment and yet it's depicted as being one. Well the ability to retain your identity is still an accomplishment in that they can actually materialize from the afterlife to life and show themselves to people like luke at the end of Episode 6. Yoda said in Revenge of the sith that qui-gon "returned from the netherworld of the force" suggesting that he cant retain his identity (witch is an accomplishment like you said) but he CAN however communicate with yoda when he is deep in meditation and then yoda teaches obi-wan how to do the same and so on. I dont think its that much of a stretch to say that there is at least (on some level) some sort of "afterlife" or "heaven" when you die in star wars.

Merlin_Ambrosius69 posted:The entire point of Anakin's fall to the dark side is that he couldn't let go of his attachment to his loved ones. Death is a natural part of life, as is loss. In order to become a complete and mature person, we must learn to cope with loss, tragedy and death. It's natural to miss a person and mourn their passing, but there comes a time when we must move on. Life is for the living. To wish that Padme and Anakin could be re-united after her death is to miss the point that the films are trying to make here.

_Sublime_Skywalker_ posted:They could always make another trilogy. Anakin becomes a force ghost, gets pissed because he still can't see Padme. Then, as a force ghost, goes the clone of the Emporer and offers to be his apprentice in exchange for transferring force abilities to Padme's corpse, ressurecting it, teaching her how to become a force ghost and then letting her die so she could join him in the force.

Exactly. obi-rob-kenobi4 posted:There would be no way to actually "show" it and it is implied that they are reunited in the living force anyways so i agree it would be unnecessary. If you are paying attention throughout the saga than by the ending of ROTJ you will get a sense that Anakin is happy and complete in the afterlife of the force just like obi-wan and yoda are, the only difference is them you can see. He is reunited with padme in the force because everything is connected by the living force. It is a happy ending. He's happy, but not with Padme. She's dead and he's learned to let go of attachment.
