I never understood why Boba Fett is a popular character. I mean, he gets eaten by the sarlacc and almost every star wars fan I hear (no offense to any Boba Fett fans) likes him. Here's what I've noticed about Boba Fett:

1.He has a jetpack
2.He carries a blaster
3.Gets eaten by the sarlac
4.Appeared in the Droids episode "Race to Finish"
5.I've seen men and boys dressed up like him for comventions and Halloween
6.On Family Guy, there's references of him ("No way I bid you on all of my Star Wars action figures. Except for Boba Fett! No matter what, I never go against the Fett man.")

Please help me Star Wars fans.

He's the only person ever to escape a Sarlacc...

Until Starkiller, that is. That was one creepy level on The Force Unleashed.

I'm pretty sure you nailed it. He was the cool, mysterious bounty hunter who was somehow able to track the Falcon. No one really knew anything about him, other than that he had some amazingly cool armor and a voice changer or something.

And then Episode II came out and now he's just kind of there. With awesome armor. And a legacy of former mysteriousness.

He was a mysterious character in the OT. Plus, he has some sweet armor and a jet pack and flame thrower = BA.

One of the things I loved about the OT was Fett's appearance. You didn't know anything about him, and you didn't need to. His respectful nod to Leia in ROTJ, Vader's "No disintregation" comment to him on the Executor, and one of the best moments is when Han says "Boba Fett?! Where?!" with this disbelief and horror in his voice.

Or when Vader invites the group to "dinner" and Boba steps out into view and stands at attention beside Vader.

Boba just looked so sweet in the OT. He was the mysterious BA bounty hunter.

^ ^ ^ Agreed. Fett was superbly portrayed in the OT, apart from his unfortunate "death" perhaps. With the bare minimum of explanation, we know that he's a feared bounty hunter, has the guts to query Vader and knows how to chat someone up in Jabba's palace! A fine example in subtle character development.

Agreed. Specifically, BEFORE the original voice-over was replaced with flat line readings by the Jango guy.

As a Kiwi, hearing Tem Morison's voice in those scenes, after hearing it in local soap operas for all these years, was very strange indeed.

The posters above have pretty much listed all the main reasons... I would just add that his four lines of dialogue in the OT are pretty BA (but they did sound cooler with the original voice work, as was also already mentioned).

"As you wish."

"He's no good to me dead."

"What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me."

"Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold."

You nailed it.

Now he is played out. Between his portrayal/back story in the PT and the crap story that Traviss created, Fett has been ruined. I can't wait to see how Lucas furthers the degradation of Fett in the live action series. If Logan plays Fett, there is no hope.

I don't know why Boba Fett is so popular. Frankly, I prefer Papa Jango.

This is all he has/had going. But, he's not that important a character. His father was because he was the template for the Clonetroopers/Stormtroopers.

I don't understand chracters like Boba & Aura Sing? Their on screen for less than a minute and then their the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Maybe Clint had something to do with it?

He was certainly interesting to begin with, but then he got over exposure, especially from the geeks and the "Prequels", not to mention the sudden change in voice from gravelly American to monotone Kiwi.

Actually he said, "Rocketpack?! Where?"
