Actually he said, "Rocketpack?! Where?"

No... he says "Boba Fett?! Boba Fett?! Where?" There is no indication that Chewie told Han to aim for the rocket pack, or that Han did aim for it. He just swung around blindly and hit it by accident, and he only did that because Chewie told Han that Boba Fett was right there.

Well I never, I've just looked it up and you're right! I always thought Chewbacca was indicating that Fett's backpack was vulnerable and that Solo turned and accidentally ignited it. I also thought I'd read that Fett's name was never mentioned in the OT and was only referred to as "bounty hunter", but it seems I was wrong.

I don't understand chracters like Boba & Aura Sing? Their on screen for less than a minute and then their the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Aurra Sing was the result of a lot of overdone Lucasfilm hype. I remember when TPM came out hearing various statements to the effect of "George Lucas has said that this character, who is only glimpsed for a few seconds in the film, will play an important role later in the trilogy." Which turned out to be a bunch of baloney, but the damage was done and the fans were already riled up trying to figure out what this Sing's role would be.

Boba Fett actually played a pretty significant role in ESB. If not for Fett,
-the Empire would never have tracked the Falcon at Cloud City
-Vader would not have been able to set his trap with Han and Leia
-Luke would never have had the vision that caused him to abandon his Jedi training prematurely
-Luke would never have lost his hand and learned of his family connections from Vader
-Han would not have been sent in carbonite to Jabba the Hutt
-Lando would have not have been forced to flee Cloud City
-the events of the third film in the trilogy would bear very little resemblance to those of RotJ.

Fett's small role had a big impact.

That would technically be Boba Fett, I guess. Though his character didn't really play an important part in the PT, that was all Jango.

I think that quote is supposed to be about Aurra Sing in The Phantom Menace, not Boba... though you are right, he doesn't really do anything in the PT.

Yeah, that first paragraph is about Aurra Sing.

The only reason anybody knew this character's name is because LFL was hyping her as a character who would become significant in the following films.

In ESB, Boba is an efficient, down to business bounty hunter with a sweet costume. For me, his original voice helped define how cool he was: I loved his gruff accent. The voice over just doesn't do it for me.

Fett's responsible for ROTJ?

Geez. Before I just thought he was overrated. Now I hate him.

It all makes sense, now.

If Fett wasn't there to track down Han...he wouldn't have been frozen in carbonite. Which means he wouldn't have lost his cool. And we would've been spared Jabba's muppet show.

If Han wasn't tortured...Luke wouldn't have left Dagobah early. Which means that without an early confrontation, Vader would've remained his bad-ass self. None of that “It's too late for me, son” sentimentality.

Boba Fett ruined Star Wars! It wasn't Wicket. It wasn't Binks. It was Fett!

Enjoy your thousand years of anguish, Fetty-boy!

^ ^ ^ Agreed. Fett was superbly portrayed in the OT, apart from his unfortunate "death" perhaps. With the bare minimum of explanation, we know that he's a feared bounty hunter, has the guts to query Vader and knows how to chat someone up in Jabba's palace! A fine example in subtle character development.

Agreed. Specifically, BEFORE the original voice-over was replaced with flat line readings by the Jango guy.

I hate Boba's new Kiwi voice. It sounds as bad as David Prowse saying his lines as Darth Vader before it was replaced with James Earl Jones's voice.

Boba doesn't sound as tough with a Kiwi accent.

Dear Uncle George,

They're doesn't have to be "continuity" with EVERYTHING. Boba is a clone of Jango. Fine. We get it. That doesn't mean he has the same voice as Jango. It's so ridiculous.

Next, you're probably going to go and replace his voice again after someone writes an EU
story of Boba Fett catching a cold and having a sore throat before he arrived on Cloud City and then, naturally, his voice would sound different from being sick.

I'm glad I have the OT on tape with Boba's CORRECT voice before it was replaced with that lame-o Kiwi-accented voice.

I wish you would leave the OT alone, already.

Please.

Sincerely,

Your friend,

Taun-Taun Herder

Yeah, that's the one time in the OT that his name is mentioned. In ESB his name is not said, and people only address him as "bounty hunter".

And "Anakin" was never mentioned until ROTJ either (DVD of ESB notwithstanding)
