So many people say that Luke's "coming of age" story, along with the aspects of the Hero's Journey, are so amazing but I have problems with it. Luke starts off as incredibly whiny ("But I was going into Toschee Station to pick up some power converters", or "It just isn't fair. Biggs is right, I'm never gonna get out of here" and "hey play that back, play back the last message", etc.) but becomes a galactic hero in about an hour. When you have someone come of age that quickly, it makes it less believable. In my opinion, Lucas should have toned down Luke's immaturity in order to make his maturity more credible and believable.

As far as I am concerned by the way Owen talks it seems Luke could actually be a better farmer. As for the banter..."Somebody get this big walking carpet out of my way!" "You said it Chewie! Where did you dig up that old fossil?" "Who is more the fool? The fool or the fool who follows him?" classic lines. How about when Threepio thinks they are dying in the trash compactor? Was that a spoiler? Or how about when Han refers to Leia's soon to be execution as "better her than me!"? You have to love Jet Porkins going down in a flaming wreckage of Rebel hope. To be honest I wish I was illiterate of all films made after ANH so I could see it and cry tears of joy.
