The first half is brilliant. The only thing which exceeds it is the second half.

To be honest. I think that the second half of ANH was much better. I mean the first part was dragged out, and more boring. It was the basis to figuring out what was going on. But for people like us, we already know. so its kinda actionless. Except for Darth Vador bording the Tantive at the beginning. Than from there it pretty much becomes boring, until Luke of corse reallizes he has to go and save the princess. It becomes more comical and creative when Harrison Ford comes in. However, he, being my favorite actor, makes it more interesting for me. But the feel for the Hero after seeing Luke change his dynamic point of view real get u gonig about it.

A new hopes one of the best movies, becuase it was the first one made, and it's the most classical half. I mean when you watch a new hope, it all kinda hits you. But like said, its more emtional for us at the beginng and than becomes adreline rushing. I'd rather watch the second half, and skip the first half, becuase i can be a real boring effect. Unlike AOTC where the action just keeps getting more and more interesting. Understnad? XD

I agree with drg4. For me the first half of ANH was far more enjoyable and interesting than the second. I loved the huge range of different characters and creatures on Tatooine, the moisture farm and its glimpse into ordinary life on a harsh desert planet, all the little Sci-Fi gizmos, even the place names were great - the Jundland Wastes, Mos Eisley... There's a richness and a texture to that half of the story which really captures me.

I think part of the reason I love it is that I've always been a real cyberpunk fan - I love authors like William Gibson and Neal Stephenson. There's a seedy kind of texture to the worlds they create. I get the same feeling with the first half of ANH. The second half becomes more 'Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" for me. I still think it's BRILLIANT, but not quite as good as the first half.

I wonder if another reason that I like it is that there is a kind of western/frontier feeling about the Tatooine scenes and some of the scenes on board the Falcon too. It reminds me a bit of the Firefly series and the film 'Serenity' which was a more obvious Western/Science Fiction cross over (which I adored). I like the down-to earth, muck and bullets approach depicted in frontier style stories and I think, for me, this came across on Tatooine.

Regards,

Muddy happy
