No, he just hid in the back of Luke's X-Wing on Yavin, stark naked and whispering things to Luke. tongue

Wow, the trench run scene is now going to seem quite a bit different the next time I watch ANH. hypnotized

Yes, as the thread title amply demonstrates with its reference to Vader stomping on visibly empty robes. And Yoda disappeared in 1983, not exactly what you could call "a recent retcon".

I agree with a lot of people, that it was mostly Vader's shock. Got to remember what Obi said just before he died, "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerfull than you can possibly imagine." So Vader hears his old, crafty master utter these words and then swoosh, Vader takes him out without any defensive moves. Vader's first thought has got to be 'what?' then he's thinking what did he mean by more powerfull?

i agree.

I agree that it was probably to show there was no remains, but I also think it may be because he wants to direspect Obi-Wan, or in better terms add insult to injury.

on a similar note:

How can Vader/Anakin appear at the end of ROTJ? Did he somehow learn to become "one with the force" between ANH and ROTJ?

My only theory is that after Kenobi tells him "if you strike me down, i shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine," then disappears. This really shocks Vader. He then spends a TON of time meditating and figures out the technique Kenobi used.

This deep meditation might also help explain Vader's turn back to the light. By learning the technique of Kenobi he already took a "step" towards the light.

The explanation is that Obi-Wan and Yoda essentially did it for him after his death.

Either way, since that's not really the topic of the thread, you should start a new topic about that. happy

obviously you are baiting me.

I have read the FAQs. I have listened to the commentary.

I simply refuse to believe the explanation that Obi-Wan and Yoda helped Anakin become one with the force.

NO WHERE is this implied in the movies so for Lucas to just state it is simply retcon.

Yoda and Obi-Wan learned to Force ghost from Qui-Gon. That is explained in the films. Anakin's situation follows.

Actually I'm not. I'm politely asking that you start a new thread or read the one in the index about why Anakin disappeared, as that's not the topic of this thread. Thank you.

ok, my bad then. I had read the faqs and I was more talking how the shock of seeing Obi wan could have contributed to Vader learning the technique. I'd rather go with that than the retcon.

Hey, side question,

why does Obi Wan's lightsaber look so cheesy during the final sequences of the duel? I have heard it was because they trouble animating lightsabers pointed at the camera, something about the reflection of the blade material. However, it seems like they would have redone the saber on the DVDs.

Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan were close. So I think all the years Kenobi was on Tatt. waiting for Luke to grow up Qui-Gon was teaching him as he taught Luke through the force.
