((Forgive me if this was previously asked sad ))

In ROTJ, when Luke first enters Jabba's palace, he neutralizes the Gammereon Guards by pointing to each of their necks, in doing so the guards back away holding their necks gagging.

First, isn't this a dark side move, and wouldn't it 'taint' him?

Second, how the heck did he learn it? I'm quite sure Yoda didn't teach him that, and I can't recall Luke ever witnessing Vader choke someone.

I think it's kinda like a watered down version of the force choke. It appears Luke just knocks the wind out of them by giving their necks a quick squeeze.

I think it is used to show how close to the Dark Side Luke really was. He shows up at Jabba's palace all dressed in black and uses the Force choke. But one big different is that he didn't use it to kill the gamorrean guard, just to disable him.

Luke implanted a naked image of Cher into their brains. The guards' reaction is simply them trying not to vomit.

Yep. He made sure just to disable the guards, not to try to kill them. Also, the black is imagery of his precariousness to the Dark Side.

It's also symbolic of Luke's determination, and progression in his training.

In ANH he's all in white, an idealistic young man who simply wants to help people.

In TESB he's becoming conflicted; what seemed like a fairly simple world is now a whole lot more complex. He wears grey.

And, finally, in ROTJ, Luke has decided what he wants, and wears solid black to represent that he's made up his mind and means business.

Yep. It's also worth pointing out that Lucas was considering making what Luke wears in RotJ into the 'Jedi uniform' from at least 1982 to pre-production on Episode 1(as shown here.) He's also said it was supposed to be 'Vaderish', but I don't know that it's supposed to reflect Luke's inner darkness(though retroactively one could say that it does.)

it could have been like a pressure point thing. it could also be showing how luke is still susceptible to giving into Vader and joining the dark side, which he obviously never does but still...

Aren't those tantamount to one another?

That would depend on what aspect of Vader it was supposed to be reminiscent of. If it was his power, no. If it was his evil, yes.

Yoda also did something very similar in ROTS to the guards in palpatine's office. In both cases, I think it was just to disable them.

I thought that was a Force Strike, rather than a choke.
