You get the feeling that Jabba has a soft spot for Solo. He even gives him an extention on his payment.

In ANH, how does Han get away with walking over Jabba's Tail? in all appearances, Jabba is seen as someone who gets angry very easily, and Since his goons are all with him, I would have thought that Jabba would have seen it as a mark of disrepsect, and had him eliminated so that it wouldn't spread what he let Han do? "I saw some smuggler walk over Jabba's Tail - He must have gone soft!"

I know that the real reason is that the shot was taken before Jabba was really a slug, but still...

Does it really matter? Han's one of his best smugglers. I'm sure if it was some no-name lackey, he'd be ******.

He steps on Jabba's tale for the same reason other "alterations" are questioned; Lucas choosing gags over consistancy. It just goes in line with the more wacky direction he was taking the characters. When ROTJ came out, Jabba was scary and you could not bargain with him. He was evil and viol. There is no logical way the same Jabba would allow Solo to step on him on top of costing him money. The Jabba portrayed in ROTJ would have had him desentigrated on the spot. No questions. Now hes getting his tale stepped on and spitting frog heads into kongs as comedy relief. He's basically Garfield the cat in slug form.

1) b/c Han is a bada**!

2) b/c Han is one of the best summglers that Jabba has got and he probably thinks of Han like a disobedient child. They fry your nerves, but deep down you love them for who they are. Anyone else would have likely gotten blasted on site.

This always bothered me as well. After we get to know Jabba in ROTJ, it's hard to imagine why he would let anyone step on his tail and get away with it. The only way I can see that happening is if it were an accident, and even then that's pushing it. But it clearly wasn't an accident. Han rose like what, another two feet in the air when he did that? It's not like he stepped on it and tripped. And Jabba does look annoyed in the DVD release, but still. The scene really doesn't need to belong in the film as it stands, it's unnecessary and it slows down the movie. GL had it right to cut it from the movie for the '77 release, no reason for him to put it back simply because he could.
