	When Vader throws the Emperor down the shaft at the end of ROTJ, a violent blue disturbance flows up and down the shaft. Is this the Force itself raging out of Palpatine? 	Going by the "Heir to the Empire" books, that's all that pent-up, destructive Dark Side energy leaving Palatine's remains. Going by what we see in the PT, though, that may no longer be canon, since we didn't see something similar when Dooku or Maul were killed. -----signature----- -30-

I'd like to think that the HttE explanation is still the right one. 	Lightning was still shooting from Palpatine's fingertips as Vader lifted him and tossed him over. Palpatine was using Force Lightning when he died, which is why there was the blue flare. Same thing happened when C'baoth died. Maul and Dooku weren't using lightning, hence no blue explosion. -----signature----- Will do moose stuff for money. 	What we saw was a tremor in the Force resulting from a useless shaft connecting the Emperor's throne room to the Death Star's reactor core without any guard rails. The fact that the Emperor apparently fell about 279 miles (900 km diameter DS II, about 279 miles to the center) in perhaps 3 seconds which would suggest he fell at a speed of about 334,800 miles per hour didn't help matters.

	I believe it was a cosmic explosion of darkside energy. Dooku was definitely not as evil as Palpatine, yes he was deserving of the title Sith Lord, but not as evil. 	A similar events has happened other times in the EU. When Darth Nihilus dies in KotORII, he goes out in a red explosion. Oddly, when Shaak Ti died in TFU, she explodes in blue light, like Palpatine, so it doesn't seem to be an exclusive dark side thing. -----signature----- We're Doing it Live!
