	Remember Yoda told him that what was in that cave was what he took with him. Luke decided to take his weapons which would mean that he expected a confrontation and was also afraid to be without a form of weapon to protect himself. 	Luke took his fear of Vader with him --> that fear turned to anger when he saw the image of Vader --> the anger turned to hate when he fought and destroyed the Vader image --> the destruction of Vader's image showed Luke what fate he would suffer if he continued to be have his fear a perfect example of how fear leads to the dark side and suffering

Can anyone explain this?

	^ ^ ^ Goraq, if you mean: Would Luke have been able to draw his father back from the dark side without having had this experience in the cave, I would say "Yes". Luke's failure here was instructive toward an understanding of himself. 	Daft-Vader posted: Okay, how did Luke actually fail in the cave. Yes he took weapons in, but he was faced with an armed opponent, a Sith Lord. He did, as Obi-Wan has done, and battled with him, and managed to chop 'Vader's' head off, how is this different to Obi-Wan slicing Maul or Anakin/Vader? How is it a failure? Daft-Vader I wish I could give you a concise answer, but it took me over a decade to understand what the hell that scene was about. And to this day, I'm not completely sure.
