They will be remade.

And it will be horrible.

I just don't support this mindset that a remake/reboot/reimagining will be automatically horrible. Trekkies/Trekkers said the same thing about the new Star Trek, yet it's sitting pretty with a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. Taking it back a few years, die hard Bond fans also said the same thing about Casino Royale, yet it received a 94%.

Although the next series I'm about to mention didn't receive the same level of OMG DRAMA from fans as Trek and Bond, Batman Begins earned an 84% while The Dark Knight earned a 94%. That's an average rating of 89%.

There is certainly the risk that it wouldn't be as good, but Star Wars as an overall franchise has become incredibly stale and virtually everything it releases now is completely ridiculous. I'm of the mind that the entire saga needs a good rebooting, because it's clearly lost something that it can't seem to find again.

This is why I said what I said. It should just be left be now.

I'd be thrilled to be proved wrong of course.

Since it's a cash cow it'll never be let be. It should just be rebooted by someone talented, along the lines of a JJ Abrams or Christopher Nolan type, instead of being desecrated more and more every time it releases something new.

Interesting to talk about, but pointless to actually do it.

Lucas will tweak his versions of the movies until he's happy or dead.

For anyone else to remake them, I mean what's the point?

You would think anyone inspired by these movies or Lucas in general would find it more appealing to make their own creation.

On one hand, I'd really love to see a remake so the visual and audio effects could match the power of the original story. On the other hand, I think any remake would not/could not stay true to the original vision that are the CT movies we all love. I'd love for someone to give me the money and time to make a try at it though.

In regards to special effects in SW, the most superior film for SFX was The Phantom Menace, in my opinion. It combined the right level of CGI, sets, and location shooting, and was shot on film instead of digitally. It made it look more real than anything in the other films, at least from my perspective.

Word! applause Those are the reasons why TPM is the only prequel I find watchable; that, and because the dialogue isn't as bad as in the second two. grin

No Remakes of the films, Lucas please either make a sequel trilogy or go back to the knights of the old republic.
