Another possibility is that she was shown images or holorecordings of Padme at a young age.

You know Artoo had to have carried at some point a holorecording of a beautiful but sad Padme. And the independant little droid might just decide little Leia needed to see them. wink That's my pet theory and I am happy with it.

Good point, Ive thought along those lines too, since R2s memory wasnt erased. But why then didnt R2 show pictures of her real father to her, Luke and others and spare everyone all the ensuing troubles, heh. Stupid little droid ! tongue

Wow this debate is still going strong? I thought we put it to bed like two pages ago, lol.

But it's cool to see everybody's theories and facts that many of us may have overlooked. Although, much of the original topic has seemed to fade away.

I have a theory that R2D2 was the real orchestrator behind the whole rebellion. He knew so much but revealed so little. He only did so when it was pertinent, lol. Not to mention all of the times when he "conveniently" came to the rescue.

But now we're just getting off topic again.

Is it a ridiculous stretch? Yeah, kinda. Anything else, though, ruins the scene, kills the drama and fails to be anything significant for Luke.

For STAR WARS? I don't think so. Leia never claimed to have any firm memories of Padme. In fact, she claimed that her memories were nothing more than vague feelings. Mainly of sadness. Which would account for Padme's feelings around the time she gave birth to the twins on Polis Massa.

There are things missing in the clone army plot, among them WHO actually ordered the army.
We get a name, a jedi named Sifo-Dyas. But we are also told that he is dead and seemed to have been killed BEFORE the order was placed and so he could not have done it. Jango also does not know the name Sifo-Dyas.
At films end the most likely suspect is Dooku or Palpatine but we do not know for sure.
Then in RotS the matter is never talked abvout so the matter is unresolved.

The matter was resolved . . . in "Labyrinth of Evil", in which his backstory verified that he was the one who had first ordered the Clone army, due to a premonition he had received about the upcoming Clone Wars. He had ordered the army to defend the Republic.

It is also possible that she saw archived holo programs about Queen Amidala/Senator Amidala and her parents told her about her mom- but missing out the detailed bits involoving Anikin which could be dangerous for her to know.
She may have then 'remembered' in a way her mothers presence, from when she was only a few hours old.

I hope that makes sense!

I'd rather stick with the original explanation: Leia remembers her biological mother.

(Yes, it doesn't make much sense that she could remember her when you take ROTS into consideration. But I prefer to think that that movie doesn't exist peace )

laugh

Explanations can be found for the apparent discrepancy, but they always seem kind of contrived. That Leia actually knew her mother for a period of time works best for me. Unfortunately that's no longer an option. tired
