I was curious as to why Anakin's voice went from an American accent to an almost British one after he donned the suit?

I thought it was a Sith thing. All the Sith have had that same accent.

Well, the Emperor gets a little Scottish in his accent in RotJ.

In the GFFA a British accent coincides with a Coruscanti accent.

A very good villain's accent, that is, especially when it comes to money. grin

Huh? When did Anakin/Vader ever sound British? After he donned the suit he didn't sound British. He sounded like a deep-voiced African American male. You know, kind of like James Earl Jones.

James Earl Jones is doing a "non-regional" American accent in the OT and ROTS. Some of the features of this accent are similar to an upper-class English accent, such as a softening of the "r" at the end of a syllable and clear enunciation.

But it is not an English accent.

I assume that getting 99% of your body horribly burned would do anything to your body.

The voice coming out of Vader's mask was not Anakin's. It was an electronically produced voice synthesis. He was basically talking through a speaker-like device, since his lungs and larynx were damaged after the duel.

Anakin/Vader with a British accent, huh? Hmmmm...

DARTH SIDIOUS: [Vader's new mechanical body arises from the steam] Lord Vader... can you hear me?

DARTH VADER: I say, my good man, I've had a spot of bad luck lately. Waiting for my luck to change, what? I say, old bean, any word from Padme?

DARTH SIDIOUS [clearly confused]: It seems in your anger, you killed her.

DARTH VADER: Oh, bloody hell. Well, got to keep a stiff upper lip, old chap, you know how it is. Still, chocks away, tally ho and all that.

I'd agree with that.

Absolutley Hilarius Old Chap.

laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

I am still nto sure when Vaders Voolice is supposed to change to British, although Vader's accent in the OT always seem to be different. Maybe they updated the Vocaliser...?

Actually I think you'll find it's called a "Vocoder", an advanced version of what the Stormtroopers have in their helmets.
