	I know that in the novelization the word "droid" was a slang term for robot, used infrequently by the characters in the book. Movie-jokes like ^^that aside, the detailed mechanics of hyperspace are just difficult - so much that even wookieepedia is vague on it Of course it involves the speed of light somehow - as you pointed out, they say so. 	Luke uses a lot of casual terms - he calls R4D5 an "R2 unit", and Tusken Raiders "Sandpeople". Guess you could call him an unsophisticated farm boy, eh!
