	There are a number of fans out there divided in regards to which version of the OT they prefer. Some prefer the original theatrical versions, with absolutely no altered scenes or special effects, others stick with whichever version George Lucas prefers at the time. However, I'm sure that there are fans out there that would like to have their own version of the OT. Perhaps you hate Greedo shooting first, but happen to like the added scene with Jabba in ANH. Maybe you'd like a special addition of your own conception added into the films. I'd like you to share your own idea of a special edition in this thread; even if you prefer one of the existing editions already out there, I'd still like to hear what you would change/add/subtract from the Star Wars films. Heres my ideal version of the OT A NEW HOPE I would make the stormtroopers blaster fire green. Since their ships fire green lasers then why shouldn't their blasters do the same? This has always bothered me, and I would do this throughout all three films. Restore all the early scenes with Luke, his friends on Tatooine, etc. It adds to the story a bit, I think, and it feels better than to simply have Luke & Biggs greet each other at Yavin 4 without prior indroduction to his character. I'd add a pink tint to all outdoor Tatooine scenes, similar to what we've seen in some scenes in the first Special Edition. I realize that many people didn't like the pink tint; however I think the pink tint adds a whole alien-feel to the world, making Tatooine look more like what it is: another planet. I'd stick with the altered canyons that we see when Artoo is rolling out over the Tatooine desert on his own before he gets attacked by the Jawas. They just look more impressive than those we see in the original version. I'd stick with the enhanced footage of the stormtroopers looking for the droids on their dewbacks. I'd stick with the new footage of the sandcrawler appraching the Lars home. Stick with the new krayt dragon cry Obi-Wan makes in the 2004 edition. I like the new version we got in the Special Edition of Obi-Wan's home. I'd stick with it. As for the arrival in Mos Eisley, I'd keep the footage as it was in the original version. I agree with those that think that Mos Eisley should be more of a quiet ghost town, and I'm not too fond of the slapstick droids or the CGI ronto scene. I'd only fix the landspeeder a bit, so that it looks more like a hovering vehicle rather than a convertable with Vaseline smeared under it to hide it's wheels I'd keep the Special Edition cantina scene with the new aliens replacing many shots with the wolfman in it. Since you see at least one scene where the wolfman hasn't been replaced, I have no problem with the new footage. Han shot first. That's all I have to say about that. I'd give Greedo eye lids that blink and some facial expressions, but that's the only change I'd make to the scene. Get rid of the Jabba scene. In the original version of the trilogy Jabba was only a mysterious individual mentioned but never seen until ROTJ came along, and I'd like that mystery preserved. Plus, I find the scene redundant and distracting. I like the improved shot of Alderaan's destruction with the shockwave ring. So that stays. Kind of like the new version of the Millenium Falcon's takeoff from Tatooine, so that stays. Colour in Luke's blade in every scene we see it activated. The white blade has bothered me as well. No censorship in the scenes where we see Han, Luke, and Chewie shoot up those Imperial officers. Their wounds flashed a bright red in the original version, and I want it kept that way. Keep the improved dianoga eye. Doesn't bother me. As with the 2004 edition, I'd have the words on the tractor beam generator be in Aurabesh rather than English. I like the original version of the scene where Han charges the stormtroopers all by himself before they finally turn on him. The new version with the hangar full of stormtroopers seems far too silly to me. I'd colour in Obi-Wan's lightsaber in that scene where it magically turns into a simple stick. As with the 2004 edition I'd have Vader's lightsaber coloured in red in the shot where the blast doors close in front of him. I like the original shot of the Millenium Falcon's approach to Yavin. I don't see a reason to change it. Keep in the added footage of Luke meeting up with Biggs before the Death Star battle, since the original footage with him has been restored. In the shot where we see the Rebel fleet leave for space I'd make it a composite of the original version and the Special Edition's. Like most everyone I like the shot of the X & Y-wings lifting off in front of the camera and taking off for the Death Star, but I like how the sky originally looked in the original shot; Yavin in the sky looked much more impressive in the that version. I like the shot in the Special Editions where we see Yavin 4 behind the starfighters as they go into space. I pretty much like the improved Death Star battle, so I wouldn't change anything about it. I don't like how in the 2004 edition the Force Fanfare is drowned out during the Death Star battle, so I'd restore it to match earlier versions. I never liked the original version of the Death Star's explosion, but I don't like the shockwave added to it in the special edition either. I'd simply make the explosion more spectacular & impressive, without the silly shockwave. Give Chewbacca a medal, of course. THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK I like the blue tints we see on Hoth in the 2004 edition. Like I said above in regards to Tatooine, it makes it feel more like an alien world. However there should be no blue tints in any indoor scenes; that would look crappy. I don't mind the additional Wampa scenes. Since Star Wars isn't a horror franchise, I don't really agree that the "less-is-more" approach in regards to the Wampa. As with my point above about the stormtrooper's blaster fire in ANH, I'd make the laser fire for the probe droid and the AT-AT's green as well. I'd add some AT-STs to the battle. I would alter the colour of Luke's lightsaber. In ANH it was more of an aquamarine rather than a standard blue, and since ANH came first then the lightsaber in TESB should match it rather than vice-versa. In regards to the the conversation between Vader & the Emperor on the Executor: replace the Clive Revill/old lady/chimp hybrid with Ian McDiarmid, but keep the original dialogue; the new dialogue is just crap to me. Jason Wingreen makes a better Boba than Temuera Morrison. Keep the line "You're lucky you don't taste very good" Luke makes when the swamp creature on Dagobah spits Artoo up. I like that line. It stays. I like the extended footage of the Millennium Falcon's approach to Cloud City, so it stays. The windows in Cloud City's interior is an improvement. It stays. I'd keep the added shot of some of Cloud City's inhabitants listening to Lando's transmitted warning to leave. Luke doesn't scream when he falls down that shaft. Never. Vader's line "bring my shuttle" is put back in. I like it better than "alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival" and it's delivered better. I used to like the addition footage of Vader's return to the Executor, but now I feel it just slows the movie down. I'd get rid of all of it. The top hatch added to the Millenium Falcon when Lando opens it to rescue Luke makes sense, so it stays. RETURN OF THE JEDI I absolutely hate the 'Jedi Rocks' musical number. The original scene and 'Lapti Nek' stays. I hate the new footage of Boba flirting with Jabba's harem girls. It goes. I'm undecided about the additional Oola scenes with her in the rancor's den. I'm uncertain if wether it adds to the scene or not. Improve the CGI, and I won't mind the sarlacc's beak & added tentacles. Keep Han's "I can see a lot better now" line. I just prefer it over the original line. I don't mind Anakin's missing eyebrows; I think he looks more sympathetic this way. I liked the original destruction of the Death Star; the shockwave is unnecessary. I'd keep 'Nub Yub'. Not that it's a better piece of music, but because it syncs with the scene better than the "Ewok Celebation" theme. I'd eliminate all the footage of other worlds celebrating and overthrowing the Empire. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was it destroyed in a day; it would take time for the Empire to fall, and I'm sure there are plenty of Moffs, Admirals, etc. that are more willing to take the Emperor's throne themselves rather than just lay down arms because of Palpatine's death. Sebastian Shaw is the ghost of the redeemed Anakin Skywalker; Hayden Christensen has no reason being there. BAC EDIT: Thread now the official future changes thread. 	Great idea for a thread! I'm surprised no one has responded yet. It's always fun to read other fans' ideas about how to improve the films in their POV. My own personal 'ANH' is an amalgamation of the original edition, the 2004 SE, and Adywan's "Revisited" cut, as follows: The 2004 SE is the basis of my version. For the most part I like the updated effects and the crystal-clear look of the film (despite purists' grumbling over the contrast and color saturation). However, I would restore the original R2D2 vs. the Jawas sequence, as I prefer seeing the daytime colors and the detail of the Jawas' suits, instead of the shadowy phantasms of the 2004 SE. Also, the entire Mos Eisley sequence I would lift directly from Adywan's "Revisited", as it achieves a number of essential revisions, including: 1) fewer womp rats and no robot slapstick in the opening Mos Eisley shot, 2) no wacky Jawa falling off the dinosaur, 3) eyelid and lip movements in the Cantina creatures, including Greedo, 4) Han shoots first and only, and 5) (extremely important) no Jabba the Hutt. My sole revision to this sequence above and beyond Adywan's would be to restore the two werewolf characters to their proper places in the Cantina, taken from the original edition DVD. The rest of the film is, again, mainly the 2004 DVD, except for the lightsaber training sequence, which should be taken from the original edition DVD to restore the proper blue-white color, and the prison-block shootout, which should be taken from the original edition to restore the bright flares that have been inexplicably deleted from the 2004 SE. The Battle of Yavin should be the brilliant 2004 version; and Biggs' conversation in the hangar must remain as well. The Medal March I would take from Adywan, since he's generous enough to give Chewie a medal, too! 	I actually like most of the changes. The only things I want to see reverted to the original are: - Mos Eisley arrival - no slapstick - Han shoots first - Jabba must go - Lightsabers must be fixed - Jedi Rocks kills me, Lapti Nek must return.

	My ideal versions would mostly follow the 2004 DVDs, but with the following changes: ANH Restore the original 'Krayt dragon' sound Use the original version of the arrival at Mos Eisley, except for cleaning up the landspeeder hover-effect Remove Greedo's shot at Han Remove the Jabba scene (actually, I'm kind of ambivalent about this one) Fix the colour of Luke's lightsaber on the Falcon Restore the bright flashes in the cell bay shoot-out Tractor beam controls in English Remove the faint red squares that appear around the TIE fighters in a few shots Fix the music vs. effects mix throughout, but most importantly in the Death Star battle ESB Remove the added Wampa shots Restore the original Vader-Emperor scene Restore original (Jason Wingreen) Boba Fett voice Restore "You're lucky you don't taste very good" Restore "Bring my shuttle" Remove the added scene of of Vader's shuttle returning to the Executor RotJ Replace the entire "Jedi Rocks" scene with the original "Lapti Nek" scene Surely those matte lines on the Rancor can be cleaned up Remove the CGI additions to the Sarlacc. Restore Sebastian Shaw as Anakin's ghost

	A New Hope The scene in the Sandcrawler, where Threepio says "we've stopped" is accompanied by a new sound of the engines winding down. It sounds like a vacuum being shut off. I'd replace that with a larger, thrumming sound. Restore the original sound of the Krayt Dragon. Tatooine was a backwater planet on the outer rim, so I always felt Mos Eisley should be more like a ghost town. I'd change the arrive at Mos Eisley back to how it originally was, but keep the fix of the Landspeeder blob. Remove the Dewback/Stormtrooper scene. Put back the Wolfman. Han shoots first. Jabba scene is gone. No more green lightsaber on the Falcon. Remove the "Praxis" explosion ring from the Death Star destruction. Chewie gets a medal. All the other small additions/cleanups are fine with me. The Empire Strikes Back: Change the Wampa scene back to how it was. Keep Ian as the Emperor in the hologram, but restore the dialogue to how it originally was. Bring back Boba's original voice. Restore Luke's line about R2 not tasting very good. Why was that changed anyway??? Restore the "bring my shuttle" line. Remove the CGI eye candy in Cloud City. Cut the scene of Vader flying back to the big ship. Return of the Jedi: PLEASE get rid of the new song in Jabba's Palace! It's laughingly bad. No beak on the Sarlacc Finally and most importantly: GET RID OF HAYDEN IN THE GHOST SCENE! Bring back the REAL Anakin Skywalker, Sebastian Shaw. *No explosion ring on Death Star II. 	A list I already posted for my special edition ideas was quite controversial in another thread - not that I blame anyone for discussing it, I'd just rather not discuss them again because I believe it's more just varying opinions, something that can't really be debated. I will say, though, that while I think Hayden Christensen as Anakin in ROTJ makes sense and was delighted when first seeing it, I agree with other posters about removing the Jabba scene in ANH. Jabba's character's quite weak compared to the crime lord we know in ROTJ. And I couldn't see him going all the way to a cantina to find someone instead of having him brought to the palace. I think most would agree that the lighting could be improved in most shots, so here's a few edits I've done as tests to make everything brighter and more vibrant. 	IV: The 1977 version but with the 97 version of Wedge's rescue of Luke during the space battle. The ONLY 2 shots I consider a genuine improvement! (Everything else either makes it worse or is just trading one kind of Fake for another, big deal) V: 1980 VI: 1983 but with the deleted sandstorm and Vader scenes back in. Jedi needs all the character moments it can get. (And a recut/retouch of the ewok battle with a better sense of mayhem wouldn't hurt)

	I'd start with the unaltered OT, and then add: ANH: - The CGI stuff that makes Mos Eisley look like more of a city. - The scene with Han and "his woman" in the cantina (I saw a photo of it in an older Star Wars Insider about the "lost cut" of ANH) - The Biggs reunion before the Death Star attack - The updated SE shots during the Death Star attack ESB: - Cloud City windows that show the twilight sky ROTJ: - shot of the banthas in the desert - Fett's moment of flirting - updated ending with the new music and the shots of different planets celebrating -----signature----- Rollerball (1975) > Star Wars (1977)

	Starting with the Special Editions this is what I'd change. ANH in no particular order Falcon in hanger has 5 landing pads like in TESB and has radar dish Add Luke witnessing the fight above Tatooine with Corvette and Star Destroyer. Biggs and Luke scene on Tatooine added. Remove the forklift droid hitting the imperial drone droid. Add more stormtroopers in Mos Eisley and not have mirrored ones. When Alderann and Death Star Blow up add a sphere shock wave instead of a ring. All scenes in Death Star battle are CGI and improved. Add wings and laser cannons to cockpit views of pilots in X-Wings. Add some scenes in Death Star battle of X-Wings taking out gun towers. Add more obstacles in death star trench. Gun Towers more obvious in death star trench. All X-wings hit have a shield overload shown (glow or ripple in shields) which causes the sparks and flames in cockpit before blowing up. Add red leaders X-wing into scene where it crashes into death star. Greedo does not shoot. No blood on arm of alien that Obi Wan cuts arm off of. Detention centre scene not edited. Yavin added to Death Star battle. More TIE fighters in Death Star battle launched. Seen in a squadron of 12 or more. TESB Put back in Hans extended torture scene. original Boba voice. Put back in Vader saying Bring my Shuttle. CGi the vehicles in Hoth battle. Add rebel and snowtroopers fighting in Echo base. Add the snowtroopers getting tricked into wompa room. Remove the damaged rebel trench scene before the fighting starts on the north ridge. Add snowtroopers advancing when closer to the trenchs and add more AT STs. digitally fix the stormtrooper whos shoulder armour has fallen down in carbon freezing chamber. ROTJ CGI all Death Star 2 battle. add in more scenes of Falcon gunners getting TIEs. Add B-Wings blowing up Star Destroyers. Add more dog fighting scenes in around both rebel and imperial capital ships. CGi the speeder bike chase and AT STs in endor battle. Remove the beak off the Sarlaac. Put back in Hans "trust me" line. Put back in the sand storm deleted scene. Put back in the Moff Jerrod getting beaten by imperial guards. When Death Star blows add sphere shock wave instead of ring. Add the shielded fighters that get hit with shield overload like mentioned for ANH.

	Any new edition of the OT would have to be an extended edition to make it worthwhile, not unlike the way The Godfather Saga was re-edited for TV in the 1970s, or the LOTR DVDs. All I'd really do would be to include every single possible scene that exists, whether deleted from the start or new ones from the SE's. Where an SE scene or dialogue replaces or alters an original, go with the original, but keep any SE additions that don't conflict (e.g. bantha herd in ROTJ, Slave I pursuing the Falcon). Where a scene has been trimmed for time, extend to full length if it adds new content - Luke not putting Threepio's restraining bolt back on, Han & 'Jenny' in the cantina etc. Where possible, use CGI to recreate scenes which were deleted because the effects didn't work - Luke & Threepio in the landspeeder, the wampa attack. Effects & dialogue, revert back to the 1977, 1980 & 1983 originals, apart from effects shots that were just fixed, rather than altered or replaced (matte lines etc), with the sole exception of the backgrounds in Cloud City. Would also add one new scene on Alderaan with Bail Organa just before the Death Star arrives. Some of this wouldn't work, scenes may have been thrown out because they weren't working in the story, such as Luke, Han, Leia & co strolling through the Death Star practically whistling to look casual, but for the most part, just include as much as humanly possible. Not sure about Luke & Leia's near kiss in ESB, would have to see how the scene plays. A lot would come down to personal preferences - I'd restore the original music to the end of ROTJ, but keep SE footage of planetary celebrations. -----signature----- "First you must fill your head with wisdom. 	You know, overall, I am happy with the special editions of the OT that are out now, so I wouldn't change a WHOLE lot about them. However, there are three big things that I just could not wait to change. 1. The Lightsabers--I would definitely make the lightsaber blades featured in the OT look as vibrant as the ones in the PT. The "white" blade Luke has just gets on my nerves SO much sometimes! 2. The Obi-Wan Vs. Vader Fight--Okay, I know that this scene is very sentimental and all, since it was technically the first lightsaber duel anyone saw in Star Wars. However, there is just no other way to put it other than it really looks quite corny. Obi-Wan looks like he wouldn't win against a Youngling (remember the twirl)! I mean I know that he has been in exile for nearly twenty years, but come on! His saber skills certainly could not have declined THAT much! As for Vader, of course he had to adapt a different saber technique when he became "more machine than man," but I KNOW he is better with a lightsaber than that! I would not want Alec Guiness replaced in any way, but a few CGI tweaks made here or there could really improve this scene a lot. This is supposed to be a very dramatic scene where Master meets former pupil, however, the awkwardness of the battle detracts from that. It would take some effort, but it needs to be fixed. 3. YODA, YODA, YODA--I LOVE Yoda, and Star Wars would not be Star Wars without him. However, when I close my eyes and think of Yoda, I do not see the puppets in Episodes I, V, and VI. To me, Yoda is in his most genuine, believable form in Episodes II and III. The way that the CGI Yoda shows emotion is nothing short of breathtaking! I think I get more feeling from him than I do most of the human actors! The Bottom line is this. ALL of the Yodas need to be CGI'd all across the saga. Not only would this make the saga more cohesive, but it would make all those cherished Yoda scenes all the more enjoyable.
