Kurtz remembers some thing correctly and others not so much. At least, according to zombie's book The Secret History of Star Wars. The appendix on the sequel trilog[ies] is pretty cool.

Ummm, to put it kindly Kurtz remembers a lot of stuff wrong, and frankly that's because he was just a line producer (no different than Rick McCallum). He wasn't Lucas' best bud, or some creative force that helped Lucas co-write Star Wars.

I know a lot of fans have elevated him to the status of the right half of Lucas' brain, but he was really no more than a hired gun that Francis Ford Coppola brought in for America Graffiti to calm Universal's concerns that Lucas could bring Graffiti in on time and on budget... that he did. And he did an effective job of helping keep the beleaguered Star Wars production rolling along and keeping the studio at arms length somewhat.

Where Kurtz screwed up, and the reason he got fired was Empire. Not because George was jealous that Empire was better than Star Wars, not because of some personal animus between the two. The reason Kurtz was fired was because he let the film run over schedule and well over budget. He was fired was because Lucas had to make monetary and ownership concessions to Fox so he could borrow money to complete the film, and the bank would only lend that money if Fox would guarantee the loan. Lucas wanted full control of Star Wars, and he had to give up a portion of that to Fox.

It wasn't personal, it was business. Unfortunately Kurtz has made a cottage industry of going out of his way to tell people "his" story of Star Wars.

No, they're just going to tax "businesses!" So unless you buy something from a "business," like groceries or clothes or gasoline ...
or unless you get a paycheck from a big or a small "business," don't worry ... it's not going to affect you.

I just wish half of the EU books were made into movies. espcally books after Return of the Jedi.

EDIT: Judging by so many scrpits that he wrote, I think he would of had more then 7 set sequel trilogy movies. He had some many ideas but he just like canned the entire sagas after Return of the jedi and he totally denies that he desired to do a sequel Trilogy.

EDIT: Acording to george Lucas none of the Storys of the books after return of the jedi ever fitted to his scrpits. He approves but now he is going to can them just like he canned his Ideas for the Sequel Trilogys.
