I never said it wasn't in the script. I'm simply saying that it's possible "more well" was what ended up being said, hence why they would put it in the subtitles. Sometimes actors screw up lines and they just keep it that way.

I seem to recall hearing "more wealth" in the original version, but I don't have it to check. All I have anymore is the DVD.

I have the OOT on DVD so I can check, unless that would've somehow been altered too. I'll let you know.

I think this one is pretty obvious...I mean, I love the Star Wars universe, but it's pretty obvious that George Lucas isn't a stranger to [milking] out his franchise whenever there's money to be earned...of course this would be a million times better than "The Clone Wars"...

BAC EDIT: Naughty word.

The fact that there are 1080p versions airing on HD channels (and scattered around the interwebz) would indicate that 1080p transfers have been made, so looking for prints/negatives to encode from can't be the major roadblock -- it's done.

(And yes, the extant 1080p version(s) are of the "current" incarnations of the films, with the additions including the Hayden ghost.)

The 2007 "official" line from LFL was that BluRay versions weren't coming anytime soon.

(One site, of quite dubious veracity, lists 2015 as the "expected" release date.)

The fact is that SW is by all accounts the most demanded BluRay title. LFL can be using their stock "we're waiting until enough homes have BluRay players" reasoning, but with the number of 1080p .mkv's floating around, I'd think they're currently losing market share faster than they're gaining it, especially since you only need a media-enabled computer to play the infringing rips -- you don't need BluRay at all -- and more and more people are streaming from their PC to their TV. If they wait any longer, everyone will already have the 1080p versions and their market share will be zero.

Since anti-piracy was given as (one of) the reason(s) for giving in and releasing the OOT on DVD, I'd hope they'll take a look at the volume of HD rips being snatched and end up releasing the BluRay versions much sooner than whatever the current plan is. praying

The currently aired 1080p versions are just upscales.

I typoed... the Sky feeds that aired were aired in 1080i, not 1080p. Yes the HBO and Cinemax (and other) airings appear to have been mere upscales, but the U.K. Sky feed appears to be more than "just an upscale," and it's the one that's kicking around illegally.

Possible confirmation? Could come from insiders or just speculation.

So it’s apropos Friday’s programming is decidedly Star Wars-centric, despite the haters and even though the space opera’s last episode, Revenge of the Sith, came out four years ago and another movie looks unlikely to ever happen. But undeterred by the absence of a feature film - or speculation about Episodes 7, 8 and 9 - Comic-Con is nevertheless throwing a self-styled Star Wars Spectacular, which will include tidbits on the Star Wars Concert Tour, the Blu-Ray releases of the movies (cha-ching!), LucasArts games and even the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Lastly, there will be a Star Wars Movie Fan Awards, which honours the finest in fan-made viral videos.

I don't know when, they will be on Blu-ray,But I am dam tired of waiting. We are lucky,we even have them on DVD. I don't know what George is waiting for. Blu-ray is a proven format. At this point,I wish someone else could release them. I don't care which version I get,I just want a blu-ray copy.I will even take the new trilogy at this point,And I am not even a fan of the new trilogy. I think george made a better trilogy, when he did not have all the hi-tech computers. The old trilogy had hart,You really thought the force was real.(as a kid)the new trilogy has no heart, Its all eye candy. Sorry to get off topic.

That comparison between SD and HD (link posted by Banthabait) is wholly underwhelming. The only significant difference I can see in the images is one of contrast. There's very little detail revealed. Certainly doesn't make me think hi-def is anything to look forward to, other than a more comprehensive package of disc extras and perhaps some revisions of certain scenes and effects.

It looks like more than just an upscale, but it's still not a rescanning of the 35mm film. If it was, and it will hopefully be for any potential Blu-ray release, it would look much, much better.

Interview with Steve Sansweet:

Q: Is there any talk whatsoever, and I’m not even going to ask for a date because I know that’s ridiculous, but is there any talk about the Star Wars movies on a high definition format?
A: Yeah. I mean obviously we’ve been looking at that for a couple of years and I think one of the questions is when is the market penetration there and these days, will there be a market penetration before everything goes streaming? But we’ve been looking at an ultimate box set of the Star Wars movies, all six of the movies. And what special features would be. And clearly these days, if you did an ultimate box set and didn’t do it in HD, Blu-ray, it just wouldn’t make any sense. So now it’s a matter of thinking okay, we’ve been thinking about this for a while, we know what kind of assets we want to use, we’ve done some work in cleaning up things, it’s really a matter of making that decision of when’s the best time to release it.
Do you wait and have an event because you’re working off of the fact that there’s going to be a new live action TV series?

All those things are very much in motion. I can say with pretty good confidence that at some point in the next several years there will be a complete set of Star Wars movies and lots of extras and deleted footage and anything anyone could want. Although I say that with some trepidation now because our fans want everything, "Why the Holiday Special wasn't on there, you ruined my life!"

But in the next few years there will be an ultimate box set and certainly a Blu-ray set.

Just found this excellent HD image. It's far better quality than any other Star Wars HD image I've seen. Judging from where it came from, I think it's an unaltered original, and it does not have a blue tint like many other SW DVDs do.

And then here is a screencapture of Star Wars HD as we usually know it, aired on TV.

The difference between the quality is night-and-day. I would have thought they'd have at least shown AOTC and ROTS in their original HD form and not just upscales, but it definitely doesn't look like that here. Annoying blue tint is also present.

The first image will be more like what the Blu-ray will look like.

Also, shouldn't this be moved to the saga forum?

Blu-ray will be around for a while because this streaming business is ridiculous in my opinion. Can you imagine how big a file a blu-ray quality film would be. That's also not taking into consideration how long it would take to download it. Also, I don't understand why they don't show the films in widescreen when they are on tv.
