If it does, they should put an asterisk next to its record (like Barry Bonds' homerun title). The Star Wars: A New Hope that will re-break the box office record in 3D is hardly the same movie as the one that began racking up ticket sales in 1977. Just as the re-release that added to the original's tally in 1997 was a different film from the first incarnation and the 3D version.

Ultimately, it seems like a pretty hollow statistic to me.

This has been annoucned or at least rumored for some time now. I will definatly see each one at least 3 times.
