I have been wondering:

Did Darth Vader know that Princess Leia was his daughter when they captured and tortured her in ANH? If so, torturing your own daughter... pretty sick.

No; he didn't even know he had a daughter until he reads Luke's mind in ROTJ and discovers Luke has a twin sister. And in ANH, he didn't know who Luke was yet or that the pilot of that X-wing who was "strong with the Force" was his son.

No and I doubt he knew that Vader knew he had a son until shortly before ESB

He would have tried to train her then.

He was down with choking out his own wife in ROTS. Torturing your own daughter after that? No practical difference, really.

But yeah, he had no idea. Although the ANH radio drama is inadvertently awesome with the interrogation scene:

Shouldn't Vader at least have know she was Force sensitive? I mean she is potentially as strong as Luke is right? If not Vader then certainly the Emperor would have sensed something from her. He would have probably had regular dealings with her in the senate right. She wasn't a Senator from some little backwater planet and she was a known supporter of the Delegation of Two Thousand right? I'm just wondering how she slipped though under the "Force Radar".

He's not omniscient, and she wasn't trained in the Force.

Jedi and Sith need Midichlorian tests. That's why it exists. Qui-gon did not know Anakin was a Force sensitive when they met. He saw and heard things that made him believe, but it wasn't until he tested his Midichlorian count that he knew for certain. Vader did not know until Luke's thoughts were probed and Vader sensed his feelings for her.

Darth Vader:"The Force is strong with this one."
Luke had what a few hours of training under his belt? And Vader wasn't even in the same room like he was with Lea.

Luke was actively using the Force in that scene, which Vader can sense. Leia wasn't.

Considering that the Delegation of Two Thousand petition was dead as a doornail within days of Leia's birth, I doubt it was particularly politically relevant 16 years later when she became a Senator.

No, he didn't know. If he did, I have no doubt it would've been:

Vader: Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.
Luke: He told me enough. He told me you killed him.
Vader: No, I am your father.
Luke: That's not true. That's IMPOSSIBLE!
Vader: And Princess Leia is your sister.
Luke: NOOOOOO!
Vader: What the hell is wrong with you, Luke? Your sister? I said it once, and I'll say it again: "DO NOT WANT!"

Luke was using the Force at the time as mentioned before and I have also always felt he not only felt Luke but Obi Wan as well. Let's not forget this is at a moment in which Obi Wan is helping and talking to Luke. I think he senses part of Luke but also in part Obi Wan - thus it's understandable that "the Force is strong with this one".

No but according to the EU she reminded him strongly of Padme, which is why he was having a hissy fit during the opening of ANH, that and the fact he was near his home planet of Tatooine at the time.

His pregnant wife. So in essence, he tortured Leia twice. tongue Obviously, she was ready for it the second time, heh.
