	i am currently re-watching the ot with my son and have noticed that storm troopers legs are either apart or closed. when vader first enters the tantive iv trooper on left has legs apart and trooper on right has legs together,this also happens when vader is choking antillies and some fearless trooper has his legs apart while the others have them together when the emperor visits the death star

	There wasn't a lot of effort put into military protocol in ANH. If I were to guess, the extras who played the stormtroopers were probably just told "put this stuff on and just stand there" without any sort of direction as to how to stand. Can't say I blame Lucas for overlooking that. He had a lot on his plate making that movie and there were more pressing issues during production....like finishing production before the movie execs canned it.
