I just remembered another one. I thought the Clone Wars referenced in ANH were the "cologne wars".

As far as Obi-Wan being marketed as OB1 Kenobi, I believe I remember that too from back in the late 70s.

I wasn't born when the original trilogy was released, but I did have some misconceptions about it and the prequel movies half a dozen years back. For example, I confused Padmé with Padawan—and the fact that there was also a Queen Amidala didn't help! grin I also confused Yoda with yoga—I couldn't remember which was the character and which was the meditation.

In ROTJ during un-masking scene I always thought that Anakin said "Tell your sister you've arrived". Meaning that Luke should tell Leia that he's finally a Jedi or a man or something... he's finally arrived at being a hero... I don't know, I was 6 when ROTJ "arrived". happy

During the Hoth battle where Luke's ship goes down and he is trying to get out before the AT-AT walker is about to crush him, I always thought that he was trying to pull Dack's body out because Dack was only unconscious (instead of grabbing the grenades). When the ship was crushed I always felt bad because Luke failed to save his friend.

First time I saw star wars I panicked at the end of the Trash compacter scene. When C-3PO says, "Listen to them R2 they're dying! Curse my metal body I wasn't fast enough! It's all my fault. My poor master." I swore to god that he was gonna have R2 turn the compacter back on to "end his master's suffering." Whew. Thank god that didn't happen. 10 year olds are silly like that.

I was a small kid when I first saw the OT movies cry , and I don't even remember if I really got it... Probably not... All I knew was that my favorite characters were Han Solo and Darth Vader hypnotized . I really loved Chewi and Boba Fett, and my favorite ship was the Millennium Falcon silly , but that was it... I remember my parents buying the toys for me...

Then I saw the OT over and over again, as I was growing up, and didn't seem to have a hard time to get it, until the prequel trilogy came out and all those questions aroused... confused

Now, I get it!!! wink

What screwed me up was when I discovered that Stormtroopers is a real historical term. I thought that it was something that was only in Star Wars.

Same here.

OH I had no idea that was a real historical term. Apparently I live under a rock. In ESB when Darth Vaders helmet blows up and you see Luke I could never figure out why that happened even though I new DV was Lukes father. It also scared the heck out of me every time.

On a side note, I can remember exactly where I was when I first saw ESB because of one minor detail. I had just seen ANH the day before and my father put in the ESB laserdisk the next day so that I could see the next chapter. I was all caught up in it and then Han Solo shouts out, "Then I'll see you hell!" I just remember thinking, "Oh my! Such language. This movie is gonna be dark." And I was right. I fell in love with ESB at that moment.

Solo is the only person who says any kind of "language" in the movies.

"Damn fool. I knew you were gonna say that."

"What the hell are you doing!?"

"Then I'll see you in hell!"

I actually can't remember the first time I saw any of the movies, they have always just been present in my life. So I always knew Vader was Luke's father, and when I would watch ESB when I was about six or seven, I thought that the trial in the cave on Dagobah was that Darth Vader had sent a robot of himself with Luke's features under the helmet to find Luke and give him a hint about his lineage. I also believed lightsaber to be pronounced 'lifesaver'. Also, in ANH, we only ever see Luke ignite his saber twice, and never at the same time as Obi-wan, and so I always thought that Obi-wan didn't have his own, and he merely used Luke's, So when you see Vader stomp on Obi's robe and his lightsaber is sitting there, I would wonder how Luke got it back.

the biggest off all of them for me was i thought that vader was just an evil greedy man and he turned to the dark side only bcause of his lust for power for himself.i always had the idea that luke and leia's mother was of no consequence to the story.

I used to think that when Luke cut open the bottom of the AT-AT he threw his lightsaber in, and then it turned on and blew it up. I thought that the deathstar in RotJ was the first deathstar with only half of it blown up. My brother said he used to think that when after blowing up Jabba's sand barge, when Luke told Lando "don't forget the droids" he thought Lando said: there aren't any!
