hey, i was very young and i had recently seen disney's alice in wonderland, where the oysters "cry out in terror" just before the walrus eats them all.

the frightening part is just how long I thought that was the actual line. lol.

OMFG...I will always remember this post you made and smile. Thanks. happy

Reminds me of my ex-wife, in a way. When she saw Planet of The Apes (the original with Chuck Heston) for the first time with me, she thought that Taylor screamed (as the apes washed him down in his cell), "IT'S A MAN HOSE! A MAAAAAAAAAAN HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE!" When in reality, he was screaming, "It's a mad house! A mad house!" happy

I'm not innocent, though...when I first saw ANH, I was 6 back in '77...so I was convinced that the Stormtroopers were robots.

Ooooooops.

My brother was convinced that just before the battle of Yavin, as R2 is being lowered into Luke's X-wing, that C-3P0 says "Take care of yourself R2. You wouldn't want my nights to get boring would you?"

Of course the line is "You wouldn't want my life to get boring would you?" But with C-3P0 you never know.

Ewww...

I thought exactly the same! I still did until watching the films with subtitles on. Its amazing what you can glean from the subtitles.

New to the forums, hi everyone..

Well I never really did see the OT until a few months back..
I'm 14 and I had some misconceptions..

I thought that Ewoks were..midget Wookies..
I thought there was a scene were Darth Vader is walking around without his helmet and then starts talking to Leia about..something...I can't remember. He then pressed a button on his control panel and flew away..
I could have SWORN obi-wan just dissapeared through the floor and ran off. Kept waiting for him to show up. When he appeared as a Force Appartion I thought it was either a hologram or he was presenting himself through the force.
I thought the Millenium Falcon's gunner area was on the side, and the cockpit was in the front.

Okay, for YEARS, I thought both the Death Stars in ANH and RotJ were the same thing. *sigh* The nievite` of an eight year old.

I thought the same thing. I was 2 when ANH came out...I remember ROTJ vividly from my first viewing, and thought they were repairing the Death Star from ANH....

Of course, I like most people, thought stormtroopers were robots. One of my friends was smarter than me and made fun of me for weeks.

I thought it was "Lock asphalt into attach position". I thought they were planning on dropping concrete on the Death Star.

After reading the beginning scroll of ANH, it says something like Leia escapes on a her ship, Custodian of the Death Star plans or something of that sort. I misinterpreted and thought that the Tantive IV was called the Custodian.

I had several little mistakes that are now cleared up. happy

• I too thought it was "lightsaver." Dumb boys playing with 'em!

• I thought Ewoks were these little super-hairy cat/teddy bear hybrids.

• I was so confused when Luke is in the cave on Dagobah and he chops off Vader's head, and in the next scene, there is Vader, alive and well! I was like "What in the name of orange juice?!"

• I thought for certain that I had imagined a scene with something scanning over something producing a fuzzy-ish blue image. It was later (this past summer, in fact, when I first got started with Star Wars love ) that I realized my "imagined" scene was the part of ANH where Luke is looking for R2 on the macrobinocs! Now where the heck I ever saw that scene before (If that was the case... raised_brow ), and how it stayed stuck in my brain for years!

Aaaand...

• A couple days before I went to see RotS, I got a bag of Lays chips that had the "Find Yoda and Win You Will" thing on it. So, I went to my mom and asked "Who's Yoda and what does he look like??" blush She then explained to me that he was this little green guy with big ears, and I was like "Oh that's nice" but I had no comprehension. Bad little me.

PS: I'm under the age of 15. A very new SW fan!

Here's something else I just thought of. I remember thinking that The Gang was going to get killed in the trash compactor scene. I was like "No!! They can't die!! They have two more movies to make!" cool

I thought Obi Wan Kenobi was Luke's real father and Vader was lying to make him come to the Dark Side. I never really grasped that Ben was Obi-wan I thought they were brothers or related some other way. I also remember thinking Han Solo was a jedi that just didn't believe in the force anymore.

Han an X-jedi? Sweet. You've quite a mind there. Wish my misconceptions were cool like that.

I always found it weird that C-3PO turned hippy all of a sudden during ESB when the crew is about to fly into the astroid. I always thought he said. "Excuse me man, but where are we going?"

What it really is - "Excuse me ma'am..."

I just have to say something. I'm in charge of looking after children in a choir at my church. Recently, I brought the Star Wars: Ultimate Visual Dictionary to entertain them while they were eating. When they saw the pictures, they knew their Star Wars stuff. They knew who everybody was, and as far as I know they aren't having any of the misconceptions that we had when we were kids. The weirdest thing about it is that they've seen Revenge of the Sith, a PG-13 moive! I mean these are kids in grades 1 through 3!
