As a kid I used to think they were calling them lifesabers. But I pretty much got the plot from the get go.

When I first started watching the movies, I thought that Luke and Leia knew they were related, but in the Star Wars galaxy it was perfectly fine for siblings to fall in love. tongue

"Your tauntaun will freeze before you reach the first marker!"

"Then I'll see you in hell!"

See, I always figured that "tauntaun" was a euphemism for "butt", so I interpretted that line as:

"you're ass'll freeze before you reach the first marker."

One I used to have was that Obi-Wan's name was actually Obi-One, and this it was just a nickname he used to have. I seriously thought Ben was his real name for the longest time. Boy was I delusional...

In A New Hope, the scene where Ben and Luke are sitting on the rock after Ben saves Luke from the Raiders. I always thought Ben said "a gentlemans wastes are not to be traveled lightly"... how I came to this I have no idea, but I didn't realize what he really said until like a year ago. doh!

This wasn't so much a misconception as a how-the-heck-was-anyone-to-know because the prequels hadn't come out yet, but somehow I never thought there was a Jedi Council at all.

I got the idea that the Jedi were more like ronin, wandering samurai. That they trained the way Luke trained with Yoda, go to some remote loaction (Dagobah, Tibetan moutain top, whatever), train one-on-one with a Master, then go out to wander the galaxy and dispense justice or something.

The idea that there was a Jedi organization never entered my head. And from the OT there's no reason to think otherwise, really. Only the line about "the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic" could even imply that there was an oranization, and even then it could imply my idea of wandering Jedi.

So...yeah...

The only misconception I had about Star Wars was when I first saw it in Grade 2 I forgot what the movie was called.

When I was little I always wondered what a navigator on a "vice-perater" did. Ah the foolishness.

I remember when Star Wars became A New Hope. I then remember when it became Episode IV. being young then, I was confused about that.

i used to think Darth Vader was called Dark Vader. I can still hear my mother trying to explain it to me as we drove around the theater parking lot.

we got the original trilogy when i was 3 or 4 and while i never misread the opening crawl i al ways thought that when oola fell in the pit that the rancor ate her and his stomach juices shrank her and that jabba then ate the shranken oola. i also thought that boba fett couldn't die so when he fell in the pit i figured he just crawl back out. i also thought the sarlacc was jabba's second stomach and that he was so fat because of that.
when i went to see the special edition of anh in theatres and i saw greedo shoot first i freaked out.

"I remember thinking that Oola - the dancer at Jabba's palace - fell into the hole in the floor, and then was turned into a frog. Then Jabba ate her. "

Thats what I thought. And my little brother,5, thinks Darth Vaders head is made of ice cream under the helmet.

When I first saw the Jedi Master Yoda, he was so crazy and funny-looking that I misheard his name. I thought it was "Ousley".
