Sorry, but posting 23 consecutive times like that is spam, by any definition. If you want to quote several other posts for discussion, please do so in one post of your own, and then discuss.

5. Various knowing grins as I discover the movies that Lucas borrowed from when putting Star Wars together. "Hey, that's where he got it!" Latest one of those was watching Return of the King and the fight with the Oliphants. When one of those beasties went down with the tangled legs, I half-expected to see a snowspeeder fly by, shoot it in the neck and have it explode, fire and burnt oliphant meat everywhere.

Uh, The Empire Strikes Back came out a good 20 years before Return of the King. The movie that is.

Well yeah, the movie, but you know the book was twenty years before Star Wars. Lucas probably saw this 1968 painting by Syd Mead,

Thought "damn, my scene of Rebels versus tanks..."

..."would be much better if the Rebels were fighting these guys."

By 1978, ta-da!

Darth Vader and Darth Maul were part of a big Sith organization, and Anakin Skywalker was out to defeat them.
No sense of timeline had I.

Queen Amidala was the commander of the droid armies. I was surprised when there was a doll of the "bad guy"! (incidentally, support the pairing Grievous/Padme).

Yep. Not many more...

When I first saw Star Wars, I thought the
Stormtroopers were robots.

I'm just saying I doubt that Lucas had the Return of the King in mind when he designed the AT-ATs, especially when the Mumakil were not described in detail during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.

Um, if you read The Art Of The Empire Strikes Back,
it'll probably tell you where Uncle George got the
Idea for Snow Walkers.

I thought Salacious Crumb was connected to Jabba's body. Don't ask me how he got separated from him after Jabba died though. tongue
